Finding Construction Updates & choosing hotel

I've been searching through posts and can't seem to find what I'm looking for (although I am SURE it is in there somewhere!)

I'm a newbie here and planning to take our boys (3 and 5) in Jan. We plan to book with the 4/3 free deal. I could use some help selecting a resort. We've only stayed at POFQ and GF. Looking for moderate or advice about Values. I haven't stayed in any Value Resorts but was wondering if the savings is worth it? Or is transportation longer, etc.?

Also, I thought there was a place to find out things like which pools were closed for renovations, etc. Where can find those type of closure updates?

Well first I would decide what dates you want and then call and see what is available. I am hearing that some Jan dates are already sold out. If it is the budget I would choose Poly with 2 little ones in tow. If not then I would choose POFQ.
