Find the Trolls in Norway, Epcot

According to the book, The Hidden Magic of Walt Disney World, there are 28 trolls hiding throughout the pavilion. The author does mention that they may only be there during the Flower and Garden Festival.

Did anyone know about this? I plan on looking for them during my next trip!

What exactly does a troll look like? Size?

I only saw one huge one in Norway, I believe it was. We had ridden a water ride and it ended at a gift shop (of course). The enormous troll was there. It was brownish, no hair, exaggerated features (especially the nose), no clothes (IIRC). Looked kind of freaky/funny.

I didn't know there were more!

Here are some examples...I took these in April 2008 and it was during Flower & Garden.

These were all in the garden area between Norway and China.

When we visited the REAL Norway, those danged trolls were everywhere! Businesses put one outside the entrance, etc. Most of them were 3-4 feet high, which was about the size of DD at the time. (She was 5.) She was scared crapless of them! I wanted to take her picture standing by one, and it took me days to talk her into it. In the photo, she looks petrified and is sort of looking at it out of the corner of her eyes, as if she's waiting for it to grab at her.

UPDATE: DD9 just came into the room and I read the OP to her. Then I showed her the pics of the 4 trolls. She got a little bug-eyed and asked......."Are they real?????" I guess she hasn't completely gotten over her fear of trolls.

I think I remember seeing a picture that someone took of one of those small trolls on the roof of one of the buildings.

I'm just glad Disney doesn't have anyone dress up as a troll ...

What is the approximate number of trolls when it is not the flower and garden festival? Sounds like something that would be fun to look for next time.

There were at least 15 trolls hidden on the buildings of Norway itself when I was there in June - I gave up taking pictures of them because there were so many! There have always been some, but I think they are adding more and more, and they move quite often. I can post a few pictures if you guys want to see them.

Back in the days before budget cuts, there WAS a person dressed in a troll costume in Norway. He typically stayed just inside the door as you entered the ride area. Sometimes he would sneak up on you as well. Just my luck, it was when my kids were little and terrified of him... actually, I was not too fond of the big guy myself. One of the things I do not miss!

I noticed them when we were there in June, and it was F&W. They were along the buildings on windows and eaves, rooflines and chimneys. It was somehtingthat I hadn't really nticed before so it was a nice treat as we waited for breakfast.

What now?!? AHHHH! That's so frightening!!! I'm so glad they don't have that anymore. I probably would have freaked out and started crying, even if it happened now!
