Someone has been tracking the wall street stock transactions and have found out for the last week that there have been unusual heavy trades at the end of each day bringing down the dow. Some are beginning to think that someone(s) may be trying to engineer a crash or severe recession.

Well?

Who are the supposed Someone and/or someones? :confused3

Do they think its those "selling short"?

That's ridiculous. Why would some group do that? It's not like a bad economy would help elect one particular candidate over the other.

With Sen. McCain wanting to continue the fight in Iraq, while Sen. Obama wants to bring the primary focus back to Afghanistan, I don't think al-Qaeda has a use for either candidate quite frankly, and neither candidate is "their guy". They want to see the US, and the rest of our western allies, fall regardless of who we elect President.

I saw an article on it last week. The theory comes in conjunction with the news of the World Bank experiencing a series of "security breaches" over the past year.

Not everything in the entire world is done because of the US Presidential election. Why do terrorists do anything? They would do it to create global instability and fear.

I do believe this has been OBL's plan all along for the US. At this point I have no idea if what has been happening in the stock market can be attributed to him or his followers. However, the market can be moved with little volume because of thin trading and fear. So anything is possible.

There are heavier trades near the end because people have limits they don't want to go below and once that happens they start selling, the market drops throughout the day and then in late trading a lot of cut off points are being reached triggering the mass selloffs.

Yes, I too believe that this is financial terrorism. Only McCain can save us now. Love these little stories that are floated out there by the right. "Hey, if we can just link the stock market decline to terrorism.....we may just have a chance in getting back in this thing..."

Yawn.

I guess the conspirators changed their plans, since the market rallied in the last hour on Friday. Also, Gina2000, the market had RECORD VOLUME volume on Thursday of 11.16 billion shares.

The stock market is known as a "future indicator." Meaning, the stock market today is what investors feel the economy will be in the foreseeable future.

One can surmise that since it is likely that Obama will win in November, institutional investors feel that an Obama presidency (especially with a Dem controlled Congress) will be bad for the economy.

Based on his economic plan(s), promises of higher taxes for the job producers, expanded government, and an unpresidented spending spree that will make GWBush look thrifty, I tend to agree.

The OP said "Financial Terrorism" He didn't say islam extremists, etc. Terrorism means just that "to cause terror" It could be anyone (that is extremely rich of course). :confused3

Myself, I wouldn't put it past George Soros for one second to do something so damaging to the U.S. afterall, he made most of his billions betting AGAINST the American dollar. :sad2:

Sure, a McCain supporter could certainly surmise that and you're certainly free to have your opinions, no matter how unfounded...

However, the majority of Americas, including most in the financial sector, see Sen. Obama as the candidate with a more steady hand on the wheel in comparison to the erratic economic philosophies of Sen. McCain, that seem to change by the hour.

Didn't the President hint at this the other day during his address to the nation Friday morning? Didn't he say something like those driving the market down by starting rumors and certain trade practices would be prosecuted?

Yes, the stock market meltdown is linked completely to an Obama Presidency. In fact, the world markets are melting down for this same reason.

Phew, glad we got this all figured out.

Next.

I read a book where this happened--maybe they got the idea from that???

I think it's probably Soros, Obama and Bin Laden. Oh, maybe Ayers too.

By the way, Warren Buffet has been betting against the dollar since 2003. Maybe he's in on it too?

Step away from Right Wing Radio, turn off Fox News. Maybe even turn on the BBC and you'll gain some perspective.

This is link to a lengthy but very interesting article from Vanity Fair, August 2008 about the fall of Bear Stearns in May 2008 which is very interesting - the author thinks that Bear Stearns was undermined by market manipulators. They don't say who. It's fascinating reading.

The Fall of Bear Stearns

If Bear Stearns was the canary in the coal mine this goes in favor of some "financial terrorism" but against it being related in any way to the prospect of Obama being elected since this episode took place in May.
