We always go to WDW in December. We always start out the vacation at a moderate WDW hotel (or Universal). This year we are doing things a little differently. We were going to wait for the AP rates to come out, but decided to just splurge on the points (it is a studio anyway) and stay at DVC the entire trip.

So glad we did, with the new AP room discount restrictions. Makes DVC look better and better all the time. :wizard:

Agree - the longer we own DVC, the happier I am with our decision (and I was pretty happy about it to begin with, LOL)!

You are going to love not moving - I don't mind staying elsewhere if we're not visiting Disney things, but once I'm settled in at Disney, I do not even want to think about checking out and in again. To me it's like flying - one up and one down per trip, thank you very much! :teeth:

Best wishes -

Yes, moving is a pain. Kind of puts a damper on the vacation too me. I'd rather just spend the points, even if i had to buy a few more.

Well, we still will be moving! From BCV to VWL from VWL to DCL Wonder!
But they will all be moves up-studio to 1 bedroom to 4 day cruise :cool1: .

  But I am very grateful for DVC. Especially now.

We have quite a few points, 425 to be exact, but I sometimes just have a very hard time using points for two Fridays and two Saturdays. I don't mind staying the first night at a Disney resort and moving once for the rest of the trip. I don't mind paying $80 for one night versus 50-60 points for a one bedroom on Friday. If we pack a bag for just that one night, then it is the only suitcase that needs to be opened, and Disney will move everything for me. Not a matter of not enough points, for me, I am just stingy with them.

So many people switch in the middle of their trip to save pts? Is that worth it for a large family?(6)

We are of the very few who actually enjoy staying at different resorts.
But we are just 2 adults. I cannot imagine doing it with children in tow.

Not in my mind, and we don't have a large family. We have moved only once, and that was when we had a GV scheduled for a large group, and we arrived The Friday before. We spent Friday and Saturday nights in a studio at SSR, and then moved to our GV at OKW. We packed one small bag for our early weekend and left everything else packed until we got to the GV. It would have been awful to move all 12 of us though!

Dh and I are of the "no move" club. Glad we have enough pts for the weekends. Also, and don't know that this has any effect on anything ( :goodvibes ), but we've never had an issue getting the ressies we want at 7 months. I'm willing to spend those points for the weekends.

The one thing I like about (actually there are LOTS!) DVC is the flexibility. There is something for everyone.
