Let the countdown begin!!!

7 days before we get our little buns out on that half marathon course and finally make our dreams come true! It seems like so long ago that we all set out to make this dream a reality. Who would have ever thought that a bunch of out of shape people who didn't really know each other, would have ever become the tight knit group that we are? I will always remember this experience as one of the highlights of my life , even if I am unable to finish due to injury. While training for this marathon has been very hard at times, it has never been difficult to come here on a daily basis and revel in how my friends had done for the day. When I have felt at great loss and wondering if I would ever really be able to complete my goal, I have always had solace in the fact that, if I can't do it, I have many friends that will do it for me as they cross the finish line. And.... that as they cross, I WILL be there to cheer them on, as they have cheered me on. You all have become like family to me. I really do want to thank you from the bottom of my heart for the unconditional support and love you have shown me from the very beginning. I hope that you have felt that same support and love from me.

I am so excited to meet you all this weekend. Don't forget your name tags, Friday night's gathering at Jellyrolls, The Illuminations Cruises (meet at Y&BC dock) on Friday night for those that were lucky enough to get on those pontoons, Saturday Morning's breakfast at The Boardwalk Bakery, The family races for the kids- let's cheer them on too!, Trails End on Saturday night for dinner- meet no later then 4:15 (I'll be there at 4:00)- and wear your nametags!, and then.... 6:30 am - THE BIG RACE! ANd finally the WISHES Cruise , for those lucky enough to get onto that pontoon, on Monday night at the GF.

NOW..... Let's get out there and kick some booty!

WOOOHOOOOO! We're almost outta here!

Naaaahhh--we should have one more thread post-race, a RECAP ;)

I picked up my Mickey paint chips yesterday--seems they changed how they make them (haven't been to HD in a while). I will figure someway to adhere/attach them to my posterior--so if you see a lady in black pants, purple Team in Training singlet (tank top) with some line green mickey paint chips hanging off of her--that would be me :)

Won't see you guys at the start since the full and half people start in two different areas.

Doing my long EASY today--first time I've done a long in 3 weeks--and it will be less than half of my previous attempt.

Have a good week!

Lisa

good morning marathon friends. i'm trying to get myself up and going on the earlier side now that school starts tomorrow and next weekend will be early mornings for me too :) not that i'll mind so much then!

i did a 6 mile walk yesterday with my DN (remember her?), I didn't even take my stopwatch, we did it in 90 minutes. I had some slight shin pain in the start and then it passed. i'm sure now it's that fact that I wore new shoes some starting a few weeks ago, in order to prolong the life of my older shoes that i'll be wearing for the 1/2. they were the same exact shoe, but i guess i did too long in non-broken in shoes. anyhow

i'm counting points again, starting today - thursday. that doesn't seem so bad huh? i feel really puffy and flabby - not how I want to feel for my big event!

Coming down the stairs this morning - first morning it was good and dark out in a week or so - i had the rememberance of all thos wee-early morning walks in the dark and long walks on my saturday morning and a bit o'sadness that the training chapter is coming to an end. It has consumed a large part of my thoughts and time and in some ways it'll be sad to wave it goodbye. I may relay the Cols marathon with some willing friends this fall to stay in shape for my upcoming class reunion and cruise, but at this time I don't see myself doing another Disney marathon event for a long time if ever. My next trip to the world will be with my family for a relaxing vacation! Maybe one of my good WISH buddies will rent me some DVC someday??? LOL

enjoy your sunday ladies -- a week from now we'll have just come around our EPCOT loop and headed to MK, seeing some beautiful resorts along our way....................

I really thought that by 6:30 I would have 2 miles done ::yes:: but, I agree with the rest of your thoughts for sure!

As soon as it gets light here - I am off to do a couple of miles outdoors - our temps are pretty near to Fl and I need to get out in the elments and on some pavement.

Lots to accomplish today - just like others I am sure - the excitement is building - and soon it will be a reality!

Just wanted to say, "Good morning", since, as usual, I posted (next to) last on last week's thread! :earboy2: Some things never change!

I'm putting in a quote about the weather that I found on the Canadian board this morning.
CAN YOU BELIEVE THIS!?! said:
By the way, she said it was 80 degrees there yesterday. This morning, as I was talking to her at 7:00 a.m. it was 65 degrees.

By this time next week (@9:20 a.m. ) some of us will be finished and getting our pics done, some will be in the chute, some will be hustling that last mile, and some will be in the tent to :cheer2: . Karen, it IS hard to believe that the time is upon us. We are proving that by putting one foot in front of the other, we can meet our dreams and meet at the START of the half marathon! Have a great day, everyone. Back to school-and routines-for me tomorrow! :p

Morning! Today is wash/sort/try on/pile to pack day! I 'tweaked' my itinarity to send off to my sister and noticed TWO problems! Don't know where I'm eating my carb dinner Friday night....don't know where I'm getting a post race protein meal (breakfast/lunch)! I really don't want to hit a restaurant post race (without a shower), but I know it's best to consume some some low fat protein as soon as possible. Any suggestions? As far as Friday night goes, the POP food court is always a fall back. Would love to do 50's PT, but I just don't think the timing will work...maybe I'll see what the latest PS is and give it a try.

I'm sure I'll be popping back in here A LOT over the next 5 days!

First thing you should do after cheering is head to the food tent--they will have post race food---that should sustain you long enough for a shower and then you can find a meal elsewhere.

I have a feeling that as soon as I get back to the hotel--I'll be sending someone to the food court to get me some food :)

I am sooo sad....

We had our last group training today :(

I didn't want to leave...I have enjoyed my Saturday long days the past 4 months or so :(.

At this point I would DEFINITELY consider another marathon.

Our coaches gave us an encouraging CD with songs that they picked to reflect specific teammates--I got a song!!!! Greenday's "I've had the time of my life" :) All sorts of wonderful songs--when I figure out all the titles, I will gladly post them. If you are doubting yourself...these songs are great pick me ups!

Bonnie Raitt's rendition of "You Got It"--especially uplifting---"Anything you want, you got it...any thing you need you got it...anything at all, baby". We're here! We've made it! YOU GOT IT!!!!! :flower1:

I probably won't get to meet you ladies :( But if you find yourselve's heading on over to the full marathon finish to root on the crazy ones who are doing the full....my estimated time of completion is between 5:15 and 5:45...which I guestimate to be in the neighborhood of 11:30 to Noon. Long black capri racing pants (fitted) with a purple singlet that is Team in Training and has my name Lisa--written on the front....so if you see a Lisa in this timeframe--holler out "Lisa Loves Pooh"---if I wave--it's me!!!! I'll be meeting my family at the "M" family greeting area.

Another song....

"But, I would walk 5-hundred miles and I would walk 5-hundred more just to be a man who walks a-thousand miles to fall down and your door"

Though--no falling allowed until after you've collected your medal! :moped:

Okay--this next song playing is "I want to be sedated"--hmmmm......???

I'll post more songs as I get them--and I e-mailed my coaches for the list.

Umm...one more--Rod Stewart "Forever Young"--I LOVE this song!!!!
"And may you grow to be proud, dignified, and true. And do unto others as you would have do unto you. Be courageous and be brave...and in my heart you'll always stay forever young"

Oh--I forgot to add...I did 6 1/2 miles!!!! :cheer2: . Pacing avg'd over the distance was about 13:15 or so--not so bad!!! :cheer2: No pain, no pain, no pain--the whole team got leg massages and I had my coach/physical therapist check my sacrum and she said it is totally better--no knots or anything like it had when it was injured a few weeks ago :flower1: .

Good beat to it---now we are chasing our girlfriend ;)--but the song has a good beat to it!

25 Miles

Twenty-five miles from home, girl
My feet are hurtin' mighty bad
Now I've been walkin' for three days
And two lonely nights
You know that I'm mighty bad
But I got a girl waitin' for me
That's gonna make this trip worthwhile
You see, she's got the kind
Of lovin' and kissin'
Make a boy go stone wild

I got to keep on walkin'
Oh I got to walk on
Let me tell you, y'all
I'm so tired
But I just can't lose my stride

I got fifteen miles to go now
And I can hear my baby callin' my name
It's as if, as though
I'm standin' at her front door
And I can hear that doggone thing
Now I'll be so glad to see my baby
And hold her in my arms one more time
And when I kiss her lips
I turn backward flip
And I forget about these feet of mine

I got to keep on walkin'
Oh I got to walk on
Let me tell you, y'all
I'm so tired
But I just can't lose my stride

Yeah I got to walk on
Let me tell you, y'all
Hope my feet don't fail me now
I got five more miles to go
I got nine, eight, seven
Six, oh six

I got five more miles to go now
Over the hills just around the bend
Although my feet are tired
I can't lose my stride
I got to get my baby back again

I got to keep on walkin'
I got to walk on
Let me tell y'all
I'm so tired now
But I just can't lose my stride
Oh, I got to walk on
Let me tell you now
I'm so tired
But I just can't lose my stride
I got to walk on

My last song--appropriate for all of you--dedicated to my team from my coaches and I pass it along to you--print it, post it, live it---IT'S TRUE OF ALL OF YOU.

Hugs to everyone!!!!!! Relax this week--you deserve it! Way to go!! Well Done!!!

Tina Turner Simply the Best

I call you when I need you, my heart's on fire
You come to me, come to me wild and wired
When you come to me
Give me everything I need
Give me a lifetime of promises and a world of dreams
Speak the language of love like you know what it means
ohh, it can't be wrong
Take my heart and make it stronger baby

You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, I hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

In your heart I see the stars of every night and every day
In your eyes I get lost, I get washed away
Just as long as I'm here in your arms
I could be in no better place

You're simply the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

Each time you leave me I start losing control
You're walking away with my heart and my soul
I can feel you even when I'm alone
Oh baby, don't let go

You're the best, better than all the rest
Better than anyone, anyone I've ever met
I'm stuck on your heart, and hang on every word you say
Tear us apart, baby I would rather be dead

Oh, You're the best...

LISA! You've got me crying!!

Use it as your battlecry ;)

I am loving this CD....

Of course it is now playing Jon Bon Jovi's "Living on a Prayer"---fitting to the person it was dedicated too....she was to do the full but dropped a very heavy box on her foot and had to go to the ER (about 6 weeks ago or so)...so very fitting for her as she'll be doing the half! "Take my hand we'll make it I swear...wooo--ohh...Living on a Prayer".

Last post and I will stop for a while ;)

I think it would be motivating for us all to see how far we have come---

Training for my 26.2 mile run/walk...I have traveled by foot for over 324 miles in the past 4 months.

Bonnie Raitt ;)

Everytime I look
Into your lovely eyes
I see a love that money
Just can't buy
One look from you
I drift away
I pray that you
Are here to stay
CHORUS
Anything you want
You got it
Anything you need
You got it
Anything at all
You got it
Baby
Everytime I hold you
I begin to understand
Everything about you
Tells me I'm your best friend
I live my life
To be with you
No one can do
The things you do
CHORUS
I'm glad to give
My love to you
I know you feel
The way I do
CHORUS

So a year ago--did you think you'd be here?
(This was the song they picked for me on the CD...)

Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Good Riddance (Time Of Your Life)"

Another turning point, a fork stuck in the road
Time grabs you by the wrist, directs you where to go
So make the best of this test, and don't ask why
It's not a question, but a lesson learned in time

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

So take the photographs, and still frames in your mind
Hang it on a shelf in good health and good time
Tattoos of memories and dead skin on trial
For what it's worth it was worth all the while

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

It's something unpredictable, but in the end it's right.
I hope you had the time of your life.

Make sure you bring your camera :cheer2:

Sorry to boggle the thread with song lyrics--but I found the CD to be motivational, and I so thought of you Karen when I heard this!!!! (Do you have a mercedes benz--I might need a lift at mile 25 ;) ).

Perfect Day

Sun's up
A little after twelve
Make breakfast for myself
Leave the work for someone else
People say
They say that it's just a phase
They tell me to act my age,
Well I am

On this perfect day,
Nothing's standing in my way

On this perfect day,
When nothing can go wrong

It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am

On this perfect day

Sun's down
A little after ten
I pick up all my friends
In my Mercedes-Benz

Wake up
Don't tell me it's just a dream
'Cause when I've had enough
You'll hear me say,
Now don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day,
Nothing's standing in my way

On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong

It's the perfect day,
Tomorrow's gonna come too soon
I could stay, forever as I am
On this perfect day

La la la
La la la,
Oh, oh

I'm in the race
But I've already won
(La la la)
And getting there can
Be half the fun
(La la la)
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my

Perfect day
It's the perfect day

It's the perfect day
Nothing's gonna bring me down
I could stay, forever as I am

On this perfect day
Nothing's standing in my way,

On this perfect day,
Nothing can go wrong

I'm in the race
But I've already won
And getting there can
Be half the fun,
So don't stop me
Till I'm good and done,
Don't you try to rain on my

Perfect, day
On this perfect day
On this perfect day

Wow Lisa those are some great songs! Thanks! I WISH we would all be able to meet you, you have become such an integral part of this training group with all your tips and greta info that you have passed onto us. Thank you so much and good luck to you! I can't wait to hear how you do! I agree we need a post race thread so we can all share our accomplishments!

Today is a busy day for me. I am doing laundry, starting to pack, undecorating from Christmas and DD wants to go to a movie which I would like to do with her seeing how in a few days I will be gone for a week. I can't believe I leave THIS Wednesday! Where did the time go????

I can't wait to meet everyone later this week!

C you reall soon!!!

Cheryl

Hey! How about some photos to help us recognize each other?

Here's a larger version of my avatar

Hey Everyone! I can't wait! It is almost time and we will all be high fiving and hugging in person!

Karen, You have said it so well. I cannot believe it is almost time.

Lisa! Thank you so much for the inspiration you have provided us. I am playing the download right now. Thank you! Would love to meet up with you and give you the huge hug you so well deserve.

I don't understand the photo posting directions--here's a photo of me at the start of the season--I weigh the same but look like I lost a lot of weight since this picture...

http://www.active.com/donations/fundraise_public.cfm?key=LisaMark

If some one can explain how to post pics the easy way--I'd be happy to hear it...when I looked at the posting things--it says pics have to go through approval or something and I just don't get it--b/c people post photos so quickly that they can't possibly be waiting around. I must be missing something.
