Finally taking plunge and getting Ipod touch

So now i need to know all about it. No one i know has one, and curious how do you get all the apps? Is there a place to search for free ones?

Can i download stuff from itunes now and when my early Xmas present comes i am ready?

You can search through hundreds (thousands) of free and not so free apps on the iTunes store. You should be able to start downloading now.

DD downloads directly to her touch while using the wireless network in our house. Anything she downloads is backed-up on her profile on the computer when she syncs it (which doesn't happen as often as it does with my nano.

I love my Iphone, and the touch is just as great!

I hope u enjoy it, I love the fact we can put movies and such on it to entertain kids! So handy.

I love my Ipod Touch too. It is a great little machine. From watching movies, surfing, email, and downloading apps, it's got it all. There are lots of free apps on the app store. I've got one called BargainBin that shows you apps that go on sale or are free for a limited time. You can look for an app and put it on a watch list so that when it goes on sale at your price point it will notify you.

There are lots of cool and useful Canadian apps out there - ScoreMobile, WeatherEye, CBC Radio, NFB (National Film Board) are a few I've got loaded - and they are all free. I've paid for a few as well and will probably add more over time.

i am getting excited hubby is giving it to me before my trip so i can take it with me to keep in touch .He is working while kids and I are in Fun

If i pay for internet 1 day on my trip, can i do that with the touch? Do i need anything special to bring to do that. And would the 24 hrs only cover me in my room, or would i be able to use it around the resort or the parks for that 24 hrs too? For free Wifi areas, do you need to have some password (mcdonalds etc) or is it automatic. Is there wifi areas in DTD

What about the Airport, can you get the access there??

Does anyone know if you can accss hotmail or msn? sorry but i think i am going to be in love if it does

Just bought DD 11 one of these yesterday for her Christmas gift. I think she will be thrilled. I felt like such a techno weiny at the store as I knew pretty much nothing about them.....

Lots of free apps and if you download itunes you can start getting them now and transfer your music over to your itunes library.

You can use Yahoo for hotmail. It's free.
Oh and if you like Facebook, that's also a free app.
For hockey lovers there's a free CBC Hockey app.
Also ESPN ScoreCenter is great.

For coffee addicts there's "TimmyMe" LOL
There are so many, you can fill "pages" w/ free apps & just delete the ones you don't like/use.

Google is the search engine that we prefer and it's free. So is Google Earth.

Check if you itouch has microphone(later version do). You can download skype and use your iTouch to talk to other skype users.

We set up whatever email account we wanted to have checked on our itouches.
My fav apps are phase10 (pd), gin (pd), ibear timer - free and it lets me count down to our trips and other special events, night stand - was free but I think dh paid to upgrade it - great for travelling and has an alarm clock feature to it, flixster to check movies (free), weather eye (free) and flashlight. We keep finding new ones too!!

The iPod touch (not to be anal, but it isn't called the itouch) is awesome! I've had one since literally, the day it was released. I pre-ordered from Apple.

I have an iMac, and the integration, as you'd expect, with iTunes, iPod touch and the iMac is awesome. It's not quite as smooth with a Windows machine, but nothing that you'll notice if you'll only use Windows with it.

You can download any apps you want and they will be housed in iTunes until you connect your iPod to your computer. You can't use apps on your computer, only on the iPod. It's actually a great opportunity to browse through and find apps that appeal to you. Same goes for any music you want to purchase and have on-hand for when the day comes!

I rarely pay for apps. There are so many free ones, buying apps is hardly even necessary. My favourite one, and it's free too, is "Remote". It actually turns your iPod touch into a remote control for your iTunes! You can browse, play, pause your music/movies/tv shows/podcasts etc almost the same as if you were sitting at your computer. Definitely look into it. The cool thing with the free apps is just download any you even think you'll like, and if you end up not caring for them, you can simply delete them. Nothing lost.

i am having a problem setting up the account, it won't verify when i click my email link it keeps saying loading any suggestions?

Hmmm, strange. I've had my Apple ID for years, so the process has probably changed by now.

Have you tried logging in to the iTunes store even though your verification link is hanging? Maybe it worked anyway, but you're just not getting the confirmation screen.

Other than that, the always recommended reboot of your computer perhaps? Not sure what else to suggest. It's usually pretty straightforward unless maybe there's problems with the server or something.
