Hi everyone, just booked my September flights with Qantas for $1299. I have been waiting patiently for Qantas sale fares for months and they have finally dropped. Most dates are covered and although the fares aren't as cheap as other carriers have been recently, they are cheaper than the same flights I got last year and I think going direct suits some people better.

We are going in October and unfortunately those fares are $1590. At this point I think we might give Virgin a try. I'm happy that you got good fares, and I agree going direct has a lot of benefits. And Qantas has a good baggage allowance.

We've been hanging out too! So excited to finally see some decent prices from them :cool1: Now (im)patiently waiting for DH to book!

Wow how are yours coming in so cheap :( mine came in at over $2100.
Think I'll be telling my agent to recheck or look at booking myself

I would check the Qantas website, there are some dates not included in the sale fares but if you are flexible with your dates you may be able to move your plans forward or back to suit.

I would bet that Virgin will have a sale to match or beat these fares now for similar dates but we like to stick with Qantas so we can get credits and points and access the Qantas Club.

Sale ends Feb 10th but I can't relax until I have flights booked, considering I have already booked everything else and I needed specific dates.

September can't come fast enough!!!

Mine are coming in at $1299 too, but that's just direct from Melbourne to LA and back again. Correct me if I'm wrong, but I seem to remember that you were going a bit further afield than that :confused3 Also, there seem to be a few blockout dates that might be affecting you.

You sound like me :rotfl: Now we've got status, it seems such a shame not to use our hard-earned privileges!

And as much as I appreciate all the work DH puts into finding the best airfares for us, I'm so sick of looking at various flight options - I just want to get something booked now so I can lock in the start and end of our trip

Yes I am heading to orlando so that explains the more expensive flights.
I did find one $200 cheaper on the qantas site so I'll be checking that one out :)

Im hanging for a Virgin Sale, we are leaving in October too and Qantas fares are too expensive compared to Virgin. They can fly us direct from hobart for $1500 cheaper then Qantas sale fares.

We just booked with Qantas too! Leaving on 14 Sep & retuning 3 Oct (BNE-LAX-BNE). We paid about $5,300 for 2 adults/3 kids ($6,400 less the points plus pay option). It feels real now! The kids will miss the last week of Term 3 at school but everything winds down in the last week anyhow!

Now to organise what we will do once we're there! We have 10 nights booked at Worldmark Anaheim .. my Mother-in-Law in a member. After that we are thinking about an internal flight to New York for 6 nights & then San Diego. Any suggestions on accom in NYC for families of 5?

Tracy

I've just booked NYC Salisbury Hotel for Christmas. Had a few friends recommend it as a good size suite hotel for a reasonable price. Seems like a good location too.

It's very tempting. I'm thinking of doing a solo trip to visit my mum Sept 14 or thereabouts departure. I've only just returned from six weeks incuding wdw & dlr so just trying to justify the expense so soon after our latest trip.

My friends stayed there a few years ago and they were very happy, old and a little run down but great location. we tried to book it for our April trip, but after hesitating there were no suite rooms left, only two double bed rooms, which wouldn't be big enough for our family of 4 adults. I'm sure you will be very happy:thumbsup2

We stayed at Affinia Manhattan last year and it was great. There were two bathrooms, a bedroom with two beds ( can't remember if double or queen), a living area with a sofa bed and a small kitchenette.

Flights for Sept/October are usually around $1000 - $1250 for Virgin and Qantas every year. You'll find these prices run for a few weeks every month up until around May. So if you can't book yet, don't worry, they will be that price again for quite a few months. I normally book around April/May and get this pricing every year.

Worldmark Anaheim is great, not the closest location, but an easy walk if you go through Gardenwalk - makes it seem shorter not having to walk along the street, and right by the Cheesecake Factory :) The resort is great.
