I broke down this morning and purchased my very first digital camera, went with the Canon S5 IS. I was so nervous deciding which one to purchase (you would swear I was picking out a house or something:lmao: ), but am so excited now I could just about burst!!!

I won't be to experienced for this trip, but maybe by our next trip I will be able to post some decent shots!!!

Thanks for all the information everyone gave me.

Boy, what fun you're going to have! I remember the first few digital pictures I took almost as excitedly as the first trip I took to Disney (only a slight exaggeration!!!!) Just snap away...and buy plenty of memory cards!

I bought my S5 a few moths ago and I will be there the last week in Nov.

And RTFM!

Read The $%&^*@ Manual

You'd be amazed what you will learn.

Good luck.

Boy I really hope you are not really trying to be an @$#, of course I plan on reading the manual what IDIOT wouldn't. But it's kind of like giving birth, you can read all you want but until you go through it............

Congratulations on your new camera, I hope you do enjoy it. While I don't necessarily agree with the way Got Quattro worded the response posted, it is good advice. Sometimes the documentation for a camera gets overlooked with the excitement of taking pictures (I'm most guilty of that). I would suggest going out and playing with the camera as much as possible taking pictures of everything and anything trying out all the settings. Then go back to the manual and review how you were using the camera versus how the book suggested. The more you can become familiar with the camera and how it works the more comfortable you will become and it will definitely pay dividends in the shots you take.
