Finally--I got a decent photo of Tink!

I just have to pipe in here even though this is an old outdated thread. I have personally met the current Tink regulars, and they are ALL tiny women of various ages. I've also seen her outfit up close. It wouldn't look particularly attractive on anyone. She wears tons of layers and her hair is a helmet.

The comments about Tink's legs being hairy crack me up...um guys...Tink wears flesh toned sequined tights! You are confusing the sequins for hair.

The only time a male ever appears as a female face character is Malificant in Fantasmic due to her hieght, but the men who play her in show are not approved for meet and greets.

There are absolutely no male Fairy Godmothers.

Personally I can't believe how many people care whether it's a woman or a man in the picture...

I do believe that's the best photo I've seen of Tink yet! Good job!

Maybe it's just me but it looks as if Tink could very very well be a man!!!!

Ok I was just thinking about this...is tink a man????
I've also heard that mickey is a 5ft girl!!!
any insight?

Congratulations! It's a BOY! :rotfl: But seriously, even if you're a man--if you're playing Tinkerbelle you should be waxing. A LOT.

That was my very first impression. I thought it looked like a man too. I really hope for my kids sakes that he shaves his mustache before we go.

Thanks for clearing that up, Angiebelle! ;)

yeah on the KTTK tour they told us that Mickey is often played by a woman, since he's so short.

I have not read this thread through, but...
The first thing that popped to mind was that Tinkerbell looked positively mannish!

That's a man!

My DH even made the same comment when we saw Tink fly at MVMCP! He watched Tink jump from the castle and he even thought it was a man without a close-up shot.

I agree!

I don't particularly care if the person who flies 30-40 feet in the air (in the dark) as tinkerbell is a man or not... but there is no way that you can say that all that "fluff" is safety gear as far as to protect tink from landing prematurely as some have explained away the bulk. Webbing and harnesses to keep tink attached to the cable??? sure but not ALL that bulk. Some people have used the excuse that it couldn't be a big guy because the cable would snap.. so how about this.

A strong cable where the weight really doesnt matter (Think Kevlar or some other material). Think about the angle from the castle to the landing point...it is not a HUGE drop in elevation considering the length of the cable so it probably takes a considerable amount of weight (not the 85-90 LBS we think of a tinkerbell) to flow down the wire at the rate of speed that tink moves..

My own opinion is that the tink that flies is a man...or a russian gymnast from the mid 80's

:confused3 ..ok, ms angieB. GIRL...so you you're saying you have
inside acess to those bringing the characters to life...

if i may ? , have you met the person in the pic.? boy or girl?

and whatever happened to the flying reindeer person?

...during our last stay..we went to the sept. 29 party..and were
separated right before hollow-wishes...show. [ my wife & daughter
got caught up in the...very slow...C. 's coach line..[stretchin all
the way back to terre haute..& we was at the end of it..kind of
thing].
because of that... i was assigned, to take movies, in front of the castle
area...it was a mad house..but i met a very new cast m. named debbie...
she was "caught" in the traffic jam..so we just enjoyed the parade
together. she had a some kind of clip board..& i think it was the first
time she ever saw the parade....she was a lil darling...so if you happened
to know this person, please tell her hi! :wave2: from me..she made
it so much more fun.

I can't tell who the performer is from the picture, but all the "friends of" tink I've met personally are women, and I've met all the ones who do it regularly. I have never seen a man in that role. Honestly, I can't imagine a man fitting any of the size requirements to do it. You have to be under 5'2" and around 110-120 lbs.

I don't know about flying reindeer...that must have been before I came to WDW.

Wow thanks for posting,I showed my mom and she got excited..We are going to MVMCP on the 21st and she really wants to see her..Do you happen to know where she comes out like that from??Thanks soo much in advanced!

Rudolph no longer flies because Disney didn't want to renew the rights to his character this year. Too expensive.. heh.

My coordinator shadowed with Wishes and was telling me that there are about four or five girls and sometimes the occasional male in the role. Also, my room mate in entertainment confirms girls and a very small Asian man. :rotfl:

I want to do it someday.. that would be so amazing. *_* I think I have to gain about ten pounds first though, and find out how to audition.
