Oh, I am SO happy for you! How old is the child?

I would be so outside of myself right now in your shoes! I'm very excited and I don't even know you!

She's 7. We've always said up to age 8, so we're thrilled. After waiting so long, we've both just been emotional wrecks ever since hearing from our adoption specialist this afternoon.

Thanks everybody for all the good wishes. I just wish we could hurry up and meet her!

It just occurred to me that we can see if she wants to do BBB or Pirate's League! How fun! We were already celebrating our son's birthday for this trip, and hopefully now we'll get to celebrate a new addition to our family as well.

Yay for you! If we choose to have children, we would like to adopt. Both DH and I had foster siblings as children and know how important it is for a child to have a loving home. I was crushed when my foster brother, Peter, left us. We had all hoped we would be his permanent home.

So we were supposed to get our disclosure paperwork Friday, but our adoption specialist said she got tied up at work and couldn't finish it. Yesterday I see a post on my FB about a controversy regarding DHS employees returning donated Christmas gifts for foster kids for cash and other (apparently) personal items. I feel now that this was probably part of the mess she was having to deal with. I don't think that our adoption specialist was involved with this (which I think is absolutely horrible if it actually happened the way it appears to have), but I'm sure she is probably having to deal with the fallout from it since there has been a story about it on the local news. Now I'm worried that this is going to further hold things up for us to proceed on our adoption. Any good vibes for things to move along would be appreciated!

It is an amazing adventure......two of my 3 are adopted. Wait until you see how she changes once she gets comfortable. It is one of the most amazing things.
