Came home last evening to find a package from "Airborne Express" laying on the sidewalk in front of my home ( not even on the front porch, but don't worry I gave them a call this morning!!) and I have finally recieved my cruise docs (with only two weeks before we sail!) (Are you sensing a bit of frustration!?!) Anyhow, I am unsure about how to fill out the bottom of the first section on the "Bahamas Immigration Arrival Card". It asks for you to mark "Arriving by:" and the options are Airline/Discovery Cruises/Yacht/Private Plane. Do I mark airline since we are flying into FL or do I mark Discovery Cruise?

One other question.. In the doc packet there is a form for taking minor children, who are not your own, that needs to be notarized. However, our AAA TA had told us we would need a notarized letter from our DD allowing us to take our DGD, so we already typed up a letter giving us permission and medical clearances for our DGD and had that letter notarized. Do you think that letter will be good enough or should we go to the notary again and have the form inside the doc packet notarized?

I just want to be sure I am doing everything correctly!! Thanks for the help!!:D

My opinions would be
1) you're arriving in FL by air. That's how you're getting in to start your trip. I also don't think that's any big deal. I'm pretty sure they are just trying to keep track of the different ways people get there for tourism purposes.

2) The form is probably for those people who haven't prepared ahead and gotten a form. I'd check to be sure that there isn't any info on the form that you don't have on your notarized letter (i.e. if the form asks for the name of the child's doctor, and you don't have it in your letter). If there is anything, I'd add it to my letter as a separate page, or below the notary's seal. Otherwise, I think you're fine with what you have.

For the real, definitive answers, you can always call DCL directly.

EmmasGrammy,

1) We just went in April and I can't remember how we filled out the Immigration form. If someone here cannot give you the answer, you can either call DCL like Lisa suggested, or you can wait until you get to the terminal and there will be CM's there to answer any questions regarding the Docs.

2) I am pretty sure you have to fill out the form in the Docs, because DCL will keep that one. We took DD's friend in April and I had her parents fill out the form and do an extra letter for me, which I carried everywhere. This way I had a letter with me just in case there were any problems. Besides medical clearance I also had her parents list medical insurance information.

Have a great trip.

My assumption is that we're arriving by cruiseship, because that's how we are coming into the Bahamas (since it's a bahamas immigration form)...I don't think they care how we got to Florida -- Yes/No???? It stopped me for a moment, I guess it could go either way!

I took a minor child who was not related to me ....

The immigration forms can be completed at check-in with no problem.

The form for taking a minor child is something that must be completed before you arrive ...you want to use the form that Disney provides and it must be notorized with a RASIED seal. Please don't take any chances with this one. It could not be re-done upon arrival.

I would go with the better safe than sorry approach. Have the DCL form signed and notarized. When you make copies of the letter from your DD, just brush the seal slightly with the side of a pencil to allow the seal to be read and copied. But I would make copies to have with you in your copy of documents pile.

Thanks Mr. Bill for your advice. I am having the doc page notarized. By the way, your trip with Devina gave/ and still gives me chills each time I think about the wonderful time you each had!! You are a very special man!! And forgive me, but each time I see your screen name, I say, "Oh No !! Mr. Bill!!" I guess that kinda dates me, huh?

The Wog, You have come through for me yet again! Thank You!! I will make additional copies of the letter and I never thought about using a pencil to copy the seal. Thanks again. You are exactally correct that I am very excited!!! I think I might B-U-R-S-T!!!:hyper:

To all my DIS family... Thanks to each of you for all the help and support you have provided! I love you all!! I know this will be the best vacation yet, because of all the information and help you have given to me!!:wave2:

We took our GS last year. We were told (not by DCL) that since our son has custody that his was the only parents signature that we would need to notirize the card. We didn't want to take a chance so we also had his mom sign. Wanted to have all the bases covered, like someone else said once you get to the port it is to late to take care of it then.

you are welcome grammy, thought you may want that little trick for the copy, I can never have too many copies.

sorry for the double post.... and can someone make it stop raining up here?????:umbrella:

I agree, you are coming into the Bahamas on a cruise ship and should indicate that on your immigration form.

Have a wonderful time!

You are arriving in the Bahamas by Cruise ship, so that is what you need to fill in. They don't care how you got to FL....they care how you got to the Bahamas.

Secondly, you need to have the DCL form filled out and signed and notarized....signed by both parents if possible. DCL will keep this form on file. You can keep your other letter for your "proof" should you need it.

Yes, the notarized form is a bit of a pain, but it protects you, the kids, and DCL.

I suspect that your cruise package came from a TA. DCL always sends mine by FedEx...but one TA used Airborne Express, and they did the same to me as to you--left it on the front step. A neighbor's dog chewed up my docs!!!!!! I called the TA furiously and demanded that they/Airborne pay for replacement docs as I had never received them! FedEx rings the doorbell and gets a signature!
