I go to WDW several times each year and have done everything everyone recommends to generate a Pin (save trips on the WDW site, order planning DVDs, fill out surveys, call to see if I have a Pin in my account, etc), but still nada. I have NEVER received a Pin from Disney. I did my one and only onsite stay at Universal last August/early Sept, but have done a couple of day trips over there when I was at WDW this past Oct, Dec, and May. Lo and behold I get a flyer from Universal yesterday. I opened it to find they had sent me a PIN for 40% off any of their three resorts, with prices starting at $132.00 for August 21-Oct 6 and Nov 27-Dec 22. It also had a free Harry Potter postcard in it. I've tried everything to get a PIN from Disney, but did nothing to generate this one from Universal.:rotfl::confused3

It just so happpens I do have WDW trips booked for those dates (Sept 10th-18th and Nov 26th-Dec 4th-both at CSR). I booked both using the bounce back deal that was in the room when I was at POFQ this past May. I am meeting some friends at WDW in Sept, so don't want to change that trip, but am wondering if I should move over to Universal for a few days for the Nov/Dec trip. I have Annual Passes for both parks, so don't need tickets. It seems like Universal appreciates my business more than Disney does.:sad2:

Disney has your business. Several times a year. Why would they give someone a deal who is willing to spend the full price several times a year. I know you are going to say customer loyalty, but obviously you are loyal and they don't have to win you over.

Now Universal is trying to win your business. They are hoping if you come to try their resorts, you will like them and come back to pay full price.

It is really a matter of Disney isn't going to lose consistant revenue and Universal is hoping to get more revenue.

I got that pin too and will be down at Disney during the offer time but just cant afford the money or time to take advantage of it.

You are not alone.
I was thinking through the last week.. maybe a Thanksgiving trip, and nearly booked Univ mixed with either, Nick suite, or Bonnet creek 3 times cause I will not pay sticker for FQ, it just isn't better than a 2 bedroom at Bonnet, or a 1 bedroom at nick.

Visiting DW in Aug, and an AP holder, so it is fine off site, but would prefer on, but not at what they are selling it for.

I cannot tell you which way to go, but I can tell you I am in your shoes.
I will decide in the next 2-3 weeks myself.. but would prolly go off site if they do not make me feel like they want more of my $$.

Apparently, that's all it takes.

I've been getting emails from the Loew's resorts at UA/IOA since we stayed there in 2008, but this is the first (I think) deep discount Universal/Loew's has offered us.

And to tell the truth, it's a pretty tempting offer...

I got that PIN too!! I am really thinking about just going to Universal and no Disney!! The 40% off is a great rate and their hotels are wonderful. We
went last summer for Harry Potter instead of going to Disney. I know Uni is just trying to lure me back, but at least I feel like they want my business. Disney does not want repeat business, just the newbies.

Moving for a few days is something to think about - are you going to the Universal parks during that trip? Do you get that front line pass by being a pass holder? If not then that is another plus ;) If you are going to the US parks then splitting the stay sounds like a good plan.

I disagree that Disney does not want repeat business. There are sooo many specials running! As for pins, my mom gets Disney pins once a month. Last time we went to WDW ('08) I booked the trip for everyone and used my email address but I made an email for my mom so she could get the cute WDW personalized maps. From that (it has to be since I did not use that email for anything else) she keeps getting pins, I have yet to get one myself :confused3
