After 40 trips to WDW, we are finally having a trip where we pretty much just eat. popcorn::popcorn:: We are gonna call this 'research'.

Anyone have suggestions on best items to order or if a restaurant is a BIG HUGE "don't go there"??:scared1:

It's just DH and I and a week before the 12th anniversary.
We bought some DVC resale points and will be in a studio at AKL Jambo House.
We also had a free 1 day park ticket sitting around.
So, we decided that we might as well splurge on trying some food at the places we keep hearing about and see what it's all about. (I just lost 50lbs this past year and DH just got his cholesterol under control--poor guy is only 150lbs who would have ever thought--- so might as well! Plus, I just had surgery to remove a cancer tumor in my kidney and I think we need a nice relaxing trip where we do next to nothing but ENJOY THE VIEW!)...oh yeah, we are both 39 and no kids coming with us.

So this is the plan (only one day at the parks/AK. The rest of the time is just ENJOYING THE VIEW like I said).:3dglasses

So here are the reservations:
Oh, Btw, DH doesn't like anything too 'weird' or spicy and isn't big on steaks or fish unless it's fried. He's from Amish country where all the food is starch and bland.
I have some tummy troubles, so I don't eat acidy things or red meat.

Arival day/Sunday
Kona Sushi Bar
Sushi app and welcome bread...couldn't care less about the entrees since I think they are all pretty bad from the main restaurant/cold when you get them. Will probably just share something.

Mon.
Boma Breakfast haven't been here but did do the culinary tour.
Might be too adventurous, but trying it since we are staying at the hotel.

Yacht'sman for dinner...never tried it but we like Captain's Grille.

Tues.
AK Park Yak and Yeti..never tried it...will probably split something.

Jiko...never tried it. not sure if it's our taste, but it gets good reviews and it's in our hotel for evening convenience after a day at the park.

Wed.
Share a small pizza at WPE...love it and gonna try the West side location for a change. Figure we will be over full by this time.

Ragland Road...never tried it but we love cooke's of dublin (especially after we would get a Kongoloosh from the Adven. Club...R.I.P. :littleangel:)once again probably share and app and meal and dessert.

Thurs.
Lunch at Captain's Grille....we will probably share a meal again. Never had it for lunch but we really enjoyed it last fall for dinner.

Narcoosee's for dinner....Never been there. I'm determined to try the whole lobster. I have not enjoyed 1900 Park Fare and last year I thought that the GF Cafe had gone downhill big time! We like the tea room though. We haven't tried any signatures here. I hope they are a HUGE step above the regular restaurants at this Resort.

Ok, any questions, comments, favorite menu items?

thanks!

sounds like you have some great choices there!

you might want to put your dining report on the dining reviews page - I'm sure everyone would love to hear your comments once you've finished your "tour"

Don't think I'm planning a 'report'. I just wanted to make sure that I didn't pick a 'bomb'.

I have another question (I'll probably repost it on it's own too)...

When we did the Basic Dining plan last fall, DH and I were able to share meals at TS locations without a problem (some places even split it onto 2 plates in the kitchen).

If we do the Deluxe plan, can we still share the 1 credit and split the app, entree, and dessert?

I know it seems odd to do that on the Deluxe, but we were gonna dump most credits into 2 credit meals (and don't want to look at the price tag) and there is no way that I would eat another 3 course meal in a day on my own. But I will still need a bite here and there (I would probably eat the app. and let him have the entree).

We stayed at AKL 4 yrs ago and we were planning on going to MK for the day but a tropical storm came in so we stayed at the resort. My DH wanted breakfast so we tried Boma and to our surprise it was the best meal we ate all week. We're from the coal region in PA, so meat and potatoes are a staple in our house. Try everything just because it sound alittle different doesn't mean it isn't amazing. I remember the potatoes were to die for.

Here is the answer from the Dining Plan board:

Can I share meals on the Dining Plan?
Sharing is never permitted at buffet or prix fixe meals. Beyond that, this is actually two separate questions, addressed below...

Can I share meals with guests not on the Dining Plan? No. The Dining Plan cannot be shared with guests who aren't registered as part of your hotel reservation.

Can I share meals with other guests on the Dining Plan staying on the same hotel reservation?
There is no clear answer to this. Consistently, guests seem to be allowed to share the meals ordered on the Dining Plan amongst the guests at their table, with the exception of fixed price meals, such as buffets or other all-you-can-eat options. However, this question has been asked directly to Disney via email, by a number of guests, and consistently, they have answered this question by saying specifically that, "sharing is not permitted." Despite several attempts to get clarification about that statement, no clarification appears to be forthcoming from Guest Communications, and nothing official has been released by Disney Dining to resolve the confusion. Ask your server.

I loved the lobster at Narcoosee's last year!! Definitely wins for me :)

Thanks...it's so funny cause we have always been able to share on the basic meal plan or not and they are always happy to plate it on 3 plates even (at Sci-fi and Sanaa, and GF I can specifically remember).

So I guess I'll just go with the standard disney answer of "it depends".
Thanks though for looking it up.
I think Disney gives that canned answer to make sure they get the most money out of you that they can get.
But once you have the credits, they don't seem to care what you do with them.
