I am more of a lurker than a post-er, but I look to this page regularly for advice and to get re-motivated when it seems to be taking forever to pay everything down...
But I am so happy to say that we finally did it..

Credit Card Debt Free!!!
and one of our cars will be paid off June 1st!!!

:banana::banana::banana::banana:
I am embarrassed to say we had 30K in credit card debt. It took 4 years and me going from stay at home mom to full-time working mom (and trust me, those were some rough changes emotionally and for our family life) but finally it feels like it's been worth it!!

Just had to share with some folks that would understand!

GREAT JOB !!
It proves that wherever you put your focus, you get results!!
VERY happy for you!!

Way to go! KEep going and make the next debt you pay off early your morgage!!!!! You should be really proud of yourself. You taught your kids a great lesson in the process.:goodvibes

congrats...we're still trying to get there, its nice to see it can be done cause sometimes its pretty discouraging

In January 2008 there was a thread here on the budget board "Debt Reducers " I started reading the post and decided to get rid of my debt.

After 4 years I too am out of debt, it wasn't easy but I did it so I know great it feels.

Congratulations !!!!

CONGRATULATIONS!! Isn't it the best feeling?

I paid off all of my debt last year, including my car. Hubby's car was paid off in January. He has 1 loan that he is still paying on, but that will be paid off very soon!!!

Congrats!!!!

That's a lot of money to pay off in 4yrs. You should be very proud!

Feels good doesn't it ;)

I just also paid off my credit card debt - I then decreased my credit limit on my only credit card to a reasonable number (something that is manageable on my income). I actually don't plan on using my card again - it is currently living behind my refrigerator. I'm working on my consolidation loan that I got 2 years ago and will have that paid off by the end of August. I am then going to renew our mortgage to have in paid off in 10 years instead of a 30 year mortgage. The payments will be significantly higher, but we'll save over $100,000 in interest by doing it. A little sacrifice goes a long way.

I cannot believe the amount of interest that I've paid over the years....sickening really. I'm so happy that I've realized now instead of years down the road.

That is so awesome! I love hearing stories like this! We have a family member who had a lot of debt - she's the sweetest woman and she's having to work two jobs, move in with her mother, and pay off everything while her daughter is in college.

I admire people who work hard to become debt-free!

Wonderful feeling isn't it!

Next
1-Make sure you have a 6-8 month emergency fund
2-Fully fund your retirement accounts
3-Finally work on your mortgage

Congratulations!!! :cheer2: That's gotta be a GREAT feeling!!! :cool1:

If I stay on track, I should be in your shoes in about a year!

:yay:Wonderful keep going and stay on track. Take that extra money now that you dont have to pay off interest and put it toward something or your emergency fund.

Stay out of debt it is a great way to live.

Enjoy your new found freedom.

Way to go.
