Does any of this AKL construction I keep hearing about effect any of the reservations? I was reading for a while about people being bumped from AKL, but I guess most of the construction will be done by late Oct.

(By the way, I love that my brain somehow knew AP rates were out today, and randomly woke me up at 10am. Given that I go to sleep at 5am, this is quite unusual!)

I think that I'm going to first check if BC or BCV is available for any of our days, and check out pricing there.

If that doesn't work out (which I'm guessing it won't- I'm pessimistic before coffee), I'll see if WL is available for any of our dates. I'd REALLY like it for the 28th, since that's our MNSSHP night.

If there's no luck there, I'll change it to standard view AKL.

Then, I'm going to offer DVC members my first born for a BCV room for less than $15/point.

I wondered that, as well. I'm actually a little hesitant about staying at AKL then, since they'll be working on the new building at the very least, if all of the main building construction is complete. Apparently they expect to have the issues that are limiting availability there for Sept. taken care of, though, or they wouldn't be offering discounts to help fill it up!

Hey, I just thought I'd check in and let you know that QVC is having a Disney Jewelry day today. They have some piratey earrings, item J22153. $26.

Aww, cute! I was just thinking yesterday that I really need to get to work on my pirate costume! "Wear these pants and be awesome" is as far as I've gotten

Dh and I drove from Canada to Georgia with 2 cats last July. We drove for 6 hours a day and let them out in the hotel in the evenings. We let them roam the backseat with my mom in the back with a pillow to block them from coming up front. By Noon, they were tired of trying to get up front and slept in the back window. We put a litter box behind the passenger seat on the floor and water and food in the back window.
My Vet in Canada, said it was safe to give the cats half of a anti-nausea tablet as well. That way they get drowsy quicker and will sleep the more during the drive.
My 25 lb cat does not like to take pills, so that was an adventure on its own.

Oh man, we just went down the pill route a couple of weeks ago when she was sick- NOT FUN! I think vets must cackle a sadistic laugh when they tell you you have to give the cat pills!

I thought about just letting her be loose in the back seat- given that she's the size of a small elephant, I don't expect any flying leaps up into the driver's seat, but she does have a history of peeing in her carrier pretty much every time I've ever made her go in the car, so given that most of my worldly possissions that go to FL with me will also be in the car, I'm not too sure I want to chance it!

You know, I've been thinking, and my reservation situation reminds me of the ONE episode of "American Dad" that I've seen. The dad is apparently a top negotiator for the government, but he goes to buy a car and gets swindled by the car salesman, which basically drives him crazy, because he's used to be the one talking people into things. He "goes crazy", grows a big beard, and lives in the car, while his family members all have to get jobs and starve to survive- and it all turns out to be an elaborate plot of his to make the car salesman feel bad for them and give them a better deal.

I have a nagging feeling that I'll be calling Kelly up saying "HEY! Guess what! We have to move to Canada, start a llama farm, go by the names Thelma and Louise from now on, and give Disney each of our left kidneys, but I TOTALLY got us WL at a great rate!"

Maybe I shouldn't wait until 3 to call back?

In a perfect world, or if you believe in fate (or Ka - as I like Stephen King's interpretation of destiny) ...

You'll book AKL, which will end up being behind on construction plans (which wouldn't be suprising given how bad WDWs construction estimates have been lately). You'll then get bumped from AKL, but given an upgrade/transfer to WL, Poly, or Floridian for your inconvenience. Sure it's a long shot, but I wouldn't put it out of the relm of possibilty.

I'm still really hoping for a dvc reservation to come through! With the DIS's new rules, people can't post reservations for our dates for another 33 days, though. (Although I've also been checking another board that doesn't have the 30 day rule- shhh!)

I posted about thison the October rate thread, and cobbler was wise enough to point out that $286 is NOT $220 plus tax! My before-coffee brain missed the math there- $220 + tax would be more like $247.50. So, apparently the CM who quoted me the prices was on crack.

ROFL, the system froze up while I was working on changing my reservation.

I broke Disney!

The lady I talked to was really helpful, if not exactly Disney-polite. She checked WL for me, and it WAS available for 3 of my nights, but only with a courtyard view at $240/nt. As awesome as that would be, we're on a standard view kind of budget here!

I was about to have her switch my AKL res to standard view when the system froze, so I'll try calling back later today!

I need to remember to ask about the free dining cards I've seen mentioned, too!

Okay, update #8,000,000 for today!

I just called again, and things are moving in the right direction at least!

We're now booked at All Star Sports the 26th & 27th, and AKL standard view the 28th-Nov 1!

All Star Sports? Huh? That was never in the plans! I can't even legally abbreviate it on the boards!

Well, here's the gig. There's an awesome promotion going on where you get a free gift card for dining with the AP discount! Apparently they've heard our whining about not being able to do free dining, and listened! YAY for free food!! You get a $20 gift card for a value resort, $50 for a moderate, and $75 for a deluxe. There's a minimum 2 night stay required, so the obvious plan was to ditch the 1 night value/5 night deluxe, change to 2 nights value, 4 nights deluxe, so we get TWO gift cards instead!

Sadly, Pop wasn't available with the discount, only All Star Sports. I hesitated for a minute, but then I figured it was stupid to pass up $20 in free food over wanting Pop instead, so I booked it. I'm hoping that I can call back and get it changed to Pop if more availability becomes.. available?

I got AKL switched to standard view, as I mentioned, and it ended up being $208.13/nt. NOT the $185 (including tax!) that the first CM quoted me this morning! That's way more than we were planning to spend, but the $75 gift card kind of makes up for it. I checked on Beach Club, but it was $279/nt. No thanks!

I'm still kind of hoping we can switch AKL to WL, but I'll be happy either way!

A funny moment from my call- the CM put me on hold so that he could apply the dining discount to my reservations, and when he came back on, he said "Okay, let me go over the reservation that you and I just created." Aww, I feel like we just made a baby. Was it good for you, Mr. CM? (Maybe I shouldn't watch Baby Story on TLC while making reservations?)

OH CRAP! I just did the survey at the end of the call, and they have changed the options! 1 is now the highest score, and 5 is the worst- it used to be the other way around! I rated the lady who helped me earlier all 5's- OOPS! Sorry, CM, wherever you are! Luckily I caught it this time, and gave the CM the awesome rating he deserved! (And now that I realize how much WRONG info the first CM gave me, maybe the accidental awful ratings I gave him are fitting!)

So, that's where we stand for now!

Will our heros get the Pop reservation they want, or will they be stuck at the resort whose acronym will be fun to joke about? How many more times will these reservations change? Will I ever get around to making dining reservations? (And let me say again- HOORAY for almost $100 in free food!)
