FINALLY COMPLETE! 10/3/2010- But Why is the Rum Gone? Disneyween 2007

Great to see the Halloween pre-trip started up.

I recently snagged my air-fare due to a great deal, so I'm locked into Disney via Ft. Wilderness over Oct 28th - Nov 3rd. I'm planning on flying down and meeting the parents, who hopefully will have the R/V all set up and ready to go. I've said it before but ...

Halloween is the best time visit! This will be my 2nd Disney Halloween in a row.

If you get a chance, you should check into the haunted hayride at Ft. Wilderness. And, of course if you need a semi-expert FW guide, I'll probably be around to help out.

Being an engineer, I pretty much enjoy the vaction planning way too much, so I'll be following this thread whenever possible ... especially since I'm leading the charge for my family's Halloween trip.

For this pre-trip, I need to give the metal horns \m/ !!

Hello WDW Poly Princess, As I was reading this Pre TR I figured out that I need to go back and read your solo TR first then come back to your weenie trip. I feel it's best this way in order to fully understand your character, also it would be like starting the second book of a series with out reading the first book, I just wanted to introduce myself and say I think you are extremely entertaining and I will be back to read this.

You are wise to do the Halloween party the day before Halloween. The
30th is a Tuesday. I would never again do the halloween party on a Friday or on Halloween itself. Last year the day before Halloween was a Monday and it was fantastic.

You are wise to go to the Adventurers Club on October 31. I have done that since 2002. In costume. It rocks.

I'll be there again this year on the 31st of course. I'm at BCV. I own BCV. If you want it, you'd better find a member who can book it for you. We're very serious about our food and wine festival reservations.

BWV will work fine, too. How do you feel about Old Key West? Big studio, two beds (no sofabed), close to PI and to Epcot, usually lots of availability.

However I think I prefer not to use the term Disneyween for my own trip. Runs the risk of getting altered to "Disneyweenies" by some silly person on a message board :rolleyes1 . I think I will try to come up with a name for mine. If I eat and drink too much at Epcot I can call it the Drunken Hallows.

There is a pirate name generator somewhere on the web, used it for a cruise once, all the dis people had pirate names.

got one http://www.blogthings.com/piratenamegenerator/

Wow, already a pre-trip report for October.

You went to Disney in Janaury (like me), already finished your report (which sadly I didn't). I guess, I should get going

Just signing up for this report too!

Can't wait to read all about it.

Do they make viking nametags too?

Oooh, good question!

I checked eBay, and no luck! Maybe Disney's next movie will be Vikings of the North Atlantic, and they'll make a comeback?

Your January trip was even before mine! Get crackin' on that TR, young lady! ;)

Hooray! We'll be the pirates. Be sure to come say hi! We'll buy you a Kungaloosh or something!

I wish I had been smart enough to post on the rent/trade board back when the 11 month window for BCV opened up! Of course, we hadn't even thought of this trip then.

We hadn't really thought about OKW, but it's really not a bad idea! I'm a little sour towards that resort because they put me in the farthest possible building from the hospitality house last time, and I was there with no car- I felt stranded! Maybe we'd have better luck with location this time, though! Plus, it's cheap! :thumbsup2

:rotfl2: at the Drunken Hallows!

Hi! Thanks for joining in our band of scallywags! pirate: You've got a ton of time to catch up on my past adventures before this trip report actually goes anywhere, at least!

First of all, awesome, my very first text metal horns! :woohoo:

I'm so excited that y'all keep saying Halloween is a great time to go! It's my first time in October, so I was nervous!

And YAY for another DISer with similar travel dates! Two in a row! I was starting to think I was on an unlucky streak with everyone's dates being just a couple of days off!

Awesome - another great TR to read! So excited for you to have extra friends to share your trip with! Have you ever been to the Food and Wine? It's a blast! I've been trying to get to MNSSHP for about 3 years and still have not made it.

...Is it too much to have 2 Pre-TR's going on at once?

Hey, if I go to Star Wars Weekends, I'll have 2 pre-trips going on at once, too! As long as I don't drink and type, I should be ok!

I made it for food & wine yeeeeeeeeears ago... I want to say 2002? But we didn't take much advantage of it. What were we thinking???

My DD (8) just went to a "pirate dance" at school. They had some great pirate name tags too....they gave each child a "pirate name" hers was doubloon Devyn. Her BF's was Sharktooth Shayleigh. They were quite clever, and considering you have 7 months to plan them, I'm sure you could come up with quite a few! :lmao: ;)

I can't wait to see how this comes along....are you doing the June trip? We'll be there, but I think it will be later than you. The 18-21st.

I'm still not sure about June. I need AP rates to come out so I can see just how much damage a weekend trip will do to my bank account! It's really stupid of me to be thinking of an extra trip when I have Disneyween to save for, but... Ray Park! If I do, it will be a 4 day thing, probably- just long enough for some good old fashioned nerdy entertainment!

I love the idea of a pirate dance! I want to dance with Captain Jack! ;) Hopefully we'll come up with awesome pirate names by October! The K names are a little hard- the best we've come up with so far is Kicking Kelly. If we come up with several good ones, we can just have multiple personalities! :thumbsup2

I will not be a pirate. I went pirate for MNSSHP last year (me and about 10,000 other pirates), ended the night in the club, only pirate in there at the time and got teased rather mercilessly (it was one of the first MNSSHPs) But I will fit in with the pirates this year.

If you end up going with OKW, try to check in early. They'll work with you to find a building near HH, even if you have to wait for it to be ready. Two good bus stops to be near are Peninsular Road and Millers Road (I go by bus stop there). They are not a far walk from HH. Peninsular Road and HH are very close to each other.

Another suggestion if you must BCV and you can't get a studio. If you find a member benefactor, ask them to book BWV if that is what's available. Then have them put you on a waitlist for BCV. I have never not had a waitlist come through and BCV/BWV cost the same amount of points, so the point total won't change.

What's wrong with Keelhaul Kelly?

YAY!! Another Crystal TR! I loved the last one and I'm so glad there's a new one! You remind me so much of one of my best friends from high school, I kind of just picture her writing all this stuff and it makes me smile because I very rarely get to talk to her anymore...life gets in the way sometimes.

Thanks for the new Croc flops pic, too...I'll have to add that style to the "must try on before our May trip" list.:)

I was able to partially start your Trip report and I can't wait to read more!!! You do such a great job! Sadly I have to head to bed since I have to work in the AM and can't get it all in but I will get caught up eventually. can't wait to read more!

Love your Trip Reports, I am glad you decided to start early for your disneyween pretrippie. Which Star Wars weekend are you thinking about going to? My hubby and I are contemplating Star Wars as well as Halloween. We love Star Wars and friends of ours from Canada are planning a halloween visit, So we were thinking of meeting them. Maybe we'll get a chance to meet off the DIS and other netboards in October.

Yay! A pre-trippie!! Lovin' it already. Hopefully u'rs can keep me entertained so I dont go nuts trying to plan our next trip in Jan 07 that I just got DH to officially agree to. Any advice on renting DVC points? I'm thinkin about it, i'm also contemplating AKL for 2 nights...your pics from the other TR made me wanna stay there!!! Happy planning!!!:thumbsup2

Thanks for reading again! It's a little scary for the world that I have a twin out there! ;)

You could combine the two and rent points for the new AKL villas! We're contemplating it!

Une Petite Planning Update!

Today marks exactly 7 months until Disneyween!!!

We're so flippin' excited! I don't have much new to report in the ways of planning, but it felt like I should give you some kind of update!

So, um, did you guys know that Disney is really expensive?

Kelly asked me to send her a list of what sort of expenses this trip would involve, and let me tell you, typing it up was kind of depressing! It made me realize that I usually just hand Mickey my credit card, stick my fingers in my ears, and sing "La la la la la!".

I'll admit it - I've been trip planning at work. If you go into the office at my hotel right now, and open the top drawer, all the way to the left behind the front desk, and dig down under the stack of phone books, there's a clipboard with my notes attached. Shhhh...

I may be saying "And if you park over at the side of the building, that door comes in right by the elevator...", but I'm thinking "I wonder if we should do tea in the afternoon before MNSSHP?" I got the hang of taking phone reservations while playing computer solitare ages ago, so this was really not much of a leap.

We're still trying to figure out our resort situation. Part of the problem is the somewhat overwhelming selection of possibilities, and the other part is that I'm a huge cheapskate who is used to going in value season, and therefore find regular season prices absurd! Hopefully I'll have more to report on this soon!

In happy news- our nametags arrived today! Now I just have to put them somewhere where the cat won't eat them in the next 7 months!

Yes, you should absolutely do tea at the GF before MNSSHP if you can swing the cost. Look at it like this - it can be a late lunch or an early dinner because it's a ton of food and liquid.

Then you can always grab a snack at the MK while you're there, and there will certainly be plenty of candy. The good kind - they don't hand out crap candy when you trick or treat at the MK!

Your cat eats that stuff, too? Last night my cat was trying to eat the cover off of my old copy of Disney Cruise Line Passporter. The hairy little punk!

ANY paper left on the floor gets shredded! And don't get me started on what happens if you leave a roll of toilet paper or paper towels within reach. Apparently they feel the need to demonstrate what savage beasts they are?

I'm thinking tea before the MNSSHP would be especially lovely since it means that we can basically just sleep in that morning so we're well rested to stay out in the park. However, since it doesnt start till 2pm, and it took us 3 hours last time, I'm worried that it will cut into our getting ready for the party time!

Oh, the drama of vacation planning! ;)

Hey Disneyweenies! (Muahahahah!)

I have had NO TV or Internet for almost 24 hours! When we called the cable company, they said that a SQUIRREL chewed through our line, and that was why. Is that even possible??

Anyway, I am SO happy it's finally back on!

I got a chance to talk to the lovely miss Kellylou a few days ago, and we did some serious trip planning! We're usually not good at all at staying on topic, but I was quite proud of us!

After great debate, we made some real progress! We now know that we're spending our first 2 nights at Pop Century. Since we're arriving on a Friday, we didn't want to rent DVC since rooms cost a LOT more points for weekends! Thus: Pop!

We're still working out the details of our resorts after that, but we made progress- hooray!

The main thing we're waiting to know now is how many days Kelly will be able to be in FL for. She'll be working at a new school this year, so it all comes down to how many days she can get off. It's hard to plan until we know that much!

I'm convincing Kelly to register for the DIS, so be sure to give her a warm welcome when she finally gets around to it! :)

You should slip them right into your Suitcase now. Then they will be there when you start to wonder where you put them in August when you start packing ;)

Great pretrip report. I read your last tr, I just found it after you were done! Looking forward to lots more!!
