It's been a few years but my family is finally coming back to the Fort. We decided to try some of the other Disney resorts, but none compare to our experiences at the Fort. Sure, some have "better" swimming pools, some have "better" restaurants, some have "better" transportation...but my family finally concluded (what i knew for years) that there is no place like the Fort! WE are booked for sept 16-26, 2016, so we have some time to plan! We will be staying in a cabin (hopefully in my preferred 2500 loop). We always get a cart from Kenny but a "seasoned" TA has told me that he is no longer allowed to deliver carts on property.....I looked at the forums real quick but could not confirm that. I am hoping that is not true because Kenny has always provided great customer service at a cost much easier to swallow than disney. Any other new developments going on at the Fort?

Wetherdad,

The scoop on Kenny and other outside cart vendors are indeed that they can no longer deliver to you on-site. You have to go off-property to meet them and bring their cart onto Disney property yourself. They have various means of making this happen. Conversely, at the end of your stay, you have to take the cart off-property at a meet point to return the cart.

If another guest's rental period ends when yours starts, you may be able to simply make arrangements to transfer the cart - however, your cart vendor would have to advise on that. So you can still get a Kenny Kart - but it might take a little more work on your part.

In other news, the cart and also rental trailer vendors have had the big fist dropped on them by Disney. The cart guys like Kenny are described above, the rental trailer vendors had to formalize their relationship with Disney and pay fees for the privilege of dropping off a trailer which are passed on to the user.

Prices keep going up. Most discounts like AAA are no longer available for campsites unless it is a rare, publicly available discount.

Welcome back to the Fort. The cabins are still a great choice.

PS - the SEARCH forum function will pull up the golf cart and rental trailer discussions with the right key words.

Welcome back (in a little over a year). I feel your pain. I love the Fort, but my family insisted celebrating my big 50 in a hotel. Even though Concierge level at the Poly was undeniably wonderful, I'd still rather be at the Fort.

I'm having the same golf cart dilemma. We've rented from Kenny in the past and always had a good experience. I've got a Ft. Wilderness cart booked for our upcoming April trip. It's expensive, sure, but the thing that gets me the most is they're all the same. For the price I'd like to at least be able to choose a color other than green!
