I’ve been thinking about it for years, and have done a few mock bookings but just couldn’t justify the cost of it. Then they started taking away things like free onsite hotel parking, the Magical Express bus service, etc. and I thought less and less about going on a solo trip. But then I reached 66 1/2 years old and started drawing my social security, and now they are running an up to 30% off room rate so a couple days ago I talked it over with DH and decided to go for it! I’m not getting any younger so I decided I should do it while I can, and not get too old and wish I would have done it.

So I booked a week at our favorite resort, Port Orleans Riverside❤️ for November. Booked my airfare yesterday. I got a 6-day park hopper pass, and the quick service dining plan. Just need to book my Mears transportation from/back to the airport, and get my trip insurance.

So now I’m back to reading the park boards, going through menus, seeing what new attractions there are, and getting excited about my trip. I’ve done solo trips other places, always enjoy just having myself to worry about. Do my own thing whenever I want to, eat where I want to, etc. Oh, I’m sure there will be times when I wish DH was there with me, but I’m excited to do this trip on my own🙂

Good for you! I have not done this yet, but it's on the horizon as I don't have a lot of Disney buddies, and my family is not really into the parks either. I'm definitely excited for you, and I know you will have a blast!

You lucky duck!! That's awesome. I'm almost 45 and dream of a solo Disney trip. I probably would have already been on a few of my own, but my oopsie baby came in 2019.

That's awesome - you will have a great time!
I'm going on my second solo trip in August - first one was back in 2012.

Congrats and good for you! I am also considering doing my first solo trip and was looking at Port Orleans. Any reason Riverside is your favorite? Both sides look so cool!

Oh gosh, I think it’s just so beautiful. The landscaping and flowers, the mansions on one side and alligator bayou on the other, the boat that goes to Disney Springs, the grist mill wheel on the side of the building where the food court is, the pools, and the walking paths. We stayed at the Contemporary for our 25th wedding anniversary, then stayed at POR and just loved it. We have thought about trying other resorts, but just can’t bring ourselves to do it🙂

One of our DISer friends frequently does solo trips (to Disney and other places). She loves it, loves more that she can plan for what she wants to do and just does it.

Have so much fun, planning and going!!
We love POR....went there all the time until we bought DVC and then went with OKW.
I had two solo trips planned and then ended up taking DD to WDW and took DGD to DLR. Loved those trips also.

That sounds simply lovely :)

I'll be there Nov. 10th-14th, staying at ASMu now but waiting to see if there are any discounts. I'd rather stay at AKL, POFQ, or CS, but when traveling solo I don't need a very big space!
