Finally a Boardwalk owner but with a question!

That makes sense Kem. Do you think then that my family booking in that way is the best way to go?

If it is, when I make my Reservations in October of this year for September of 2002 do I just say 'bank all my points that are not being used for my Jan 2002 vacation over'? Do I also have to tell them that when I take my vacation in Sept 2002 that they use the banked points from 2001 (not new 2002 points) or will they automatically do that?

Thanks in advance for your answers

I added some notes to my above reply. Just to be sure, I would specify that your sept 2002 stay should come from banked 2001 points. They may do it automatically, but I'd cover all the bases just to make sure.

I THINK I GET IT!!!!!!!!

My probelm was I was thinking that making reservations were connected with the points that you have right then when booking. Now I think I understand that you can make reservations at the 11 month window at your home resort regardless of how many points you have when booking but as long as you have the points when you check in. So here goes this is going to be my booking plan. Kem and Robin, you both are great, tell me what you think:

2001 points:
- Vacation for Sept 2001 (if I change my plans of if not maybe take a crusie or something
- Vacation for Jan/Feb 2002

2002 points:
- Vacation for Sept 2002
- Vacation for Feb 2003

2003 points:
- Vacation for Sept 2003
- Vacation for Feb 2004

and on and on........

Then all points will be current year and no confusion. I hope this is right. I await your relies Kem and Robin!

Well if I am right with the post above then I think I will make reservations for this year and cancel my alternate reservations.

Maybe I will be using DVC sooner than i thought <IMG WIDTH="15" HEIGHT="15" SRC="/infopop/emoticons/icon_redface.gif" alt="red face">)

Just let me know if I was right with my last post?

That's what I would do! Why spend money when you've already paid dues on those points? Plus, you'll be home ;).

You will probably still have to do some banking and borrowing along the way depending on how big of a vacation home you'll need from year to year. We've been in everything from a studio to a 2 bedroom depending on the number of guests we invite. Now, my husband says he won't stay in a studio again. Not that they're bad or small or anything ... he just likes the 1 bedroom better and since we have the points, why not?

To help you keep track of points better, check out SJCSuzy's post from January. Her hubby put together a very nice point manager:
