DH, myself, DS4, & DS2
flew in from california the day before. stayed at the hilton by the airport. finally on the magic. we've been waiting for this day since last spring break, when we decided we'd do this...
key west! had character breakfast this morning. the characters came around in their tropical outfits. every character had a personal photographer trailing behind them! they made the rounds at each table. they even let you take pix with your own camera. but overall, it was a bit rushed. some characters stayed for autographs, but some didn't. i brought the boys autograph books with us this time. and from now on, i made sure we had our autograph books everytime we left our stateroom, cuz you'd never know when you'd run into someone!
also went to a scheduled autograph session. all the characters were dressed in sailor outfit, sat @ a long table in the atrium, and signed autographs! DH got a great shot of that from the stair way!
side note...i made our boys' autograph books. used those little photo albums i got from target. stuck index cards (they fit perfectly), and made a front cover w/ their names. anyways, they sign on the index cards, and i just stick it in, and of course, there would be pix with the characters, so the pix would go on the top. so when it's complete, there's a pix of character, with his/her autograph underneath. oh, and i also slipped the postcards that they received from mickey! they each had their own, and i put them in zip lock bags with sharpies in them. everytime we left our stateroom, it was, double check to make sure we've got...kttw cards, id, and the two zip lock bags with autograph books!
DS4 wanted to go to oc, after autograph session, and we had some time before our excursion, so we dropped him off for a brief time. did some shopping at mickey's mates. i'm afraid to see what we've charged!
the weather here is nice! not too hot, but not too cold.
we did the trolley conch republich tour & museum. trolley tour was interesting. saw lots of historical landmarks. went to southern most tip of u.s.-only 90 miles away from cuba! hemingways' house. we didn't get off to walk around these places, but if you book this excursion on your own, i think you can get off and on at your leisure. our boys fell asleep on the trolley, so they got a little nap. mallory square seems hectic & crazy. will get wilder later @ sunset, they say.
we ordered room service before leaving the ship for our excursion. one of many great tips i got here on the boards! got the turkey sandwiches & the chicken strips. we had packed one of those fold away insulated lunch bag, so we just put the food in zip lock bags, put them in the lunch bag, and we were off! had lunch at the square, right in front of the aquarium, under the shade! the boys had their water bottle, which we filled with water at deck 9, self serve station. told you i'm all for saving $$$. anyways, tried some key lime-onade. interesting.
the aquarium was nice & small. just the right size for our boys! when you go in the back, out the main building, there's a shark tank thing, and a sea turtle. when you walk out on the deck, there's a nice kodak moment with the magic right behind you! it's so big, right there, docked!
shipwreck museum...boys weren't that interested in this. we had to wait for 15 minutes or so to get in, so we browsed around the shops & kiosks, selling crafts & what not. after you watch the show, you can go out to the top. it's a stair climbing...way to the top. really high (for me!) my knees were knocking a bit. well worth the trek...again, nice kodak moment with the magic as your backdrop!
headed back to the ship. boys napped, and we napped, as well! we're on vacation...got to relax! and we needed the nap, since we don't get much of that at home!
parrot cay tonight! am hungry!
