Finalizing BCV - Dec "08 reservation?

We are in the process of buying in to the BCV from a resaler.

We are being warned that the process can take about 7 weeks.
We want to use our new "home" for an early December "08 family gathering.
Are we going to have trouble getting into BCV since we cannot make our reservations 11 months out?

Is there any way around this? Can the current owner make a reservation for us or is this a possible deal breaker for resale contracts?

Just my two cents, but that is a very popular time - if I was buying this resale and had my heart set on travel at a certain time I would have the owner make the reservation - if it isn't available to them it sure won't be to you.

The seller cannot make a reservation for you using points from that contract since DVC cancels all existing reservations during the sales process.

If you MUST have a reservation at BCV in early December, you will likely need to use the waitlist - which may work well for you so I would not give up hope. The timing with such a resale purchase may be a challenge since early December reservations have been available for several weeks already, but you may stil have success even with a closing in another several weeks.

We just closed on a VWL resale contract. It took 2 months to close and another 6 days for the points to become available in the DVC system. I called this morning, 20 minutes in que, and requested several different dates in December. None of my dates were available. The MS adviser suggested that we bank our points for next year.

We have been told that we can most likely get into another DVC just not the BCV. Is that information correct?

There will be at least 10 of us for a family gathering(we were thinking a 2 bedroom and a studio). There will not be a next year for the two elders of our family so we need to do this this year and in fact we may be pushing fate by waiting until December but my parents so love the Christmas shows, decorations and fireworks so this is when they want to do this.

You might get OKW or SSR. Once your contract and points are in the DVC system you can try to book. If your desired resort isn't available then you can wait list. Good Luck.

I hope you get what you want! As soon as you can, get on the waitlist at BCV if you really want that, but at 7 months out, I would call to see just what other resorts are available. BWV may have preferred rooms available for the same cost as the BCV rooms, and if its the Epcot area that you want, at least you will have that.
