I've never asked for this before, and some may think it's silly, but...

My 3-year-old Maine Coon, Abby, isn't doing very well. She's been sick since Thursday. She's at the vet today for a battery of tests to figure out why she's not eating, why she's getting sick, etc.

Initial exam and regular x-rays showed nothing out of the ordinary. She's now undergoing barrium (sp?) x-rays every 15 minutes to see if she's swallowed something or if there's a blockage.

If you care about kitties, please think a good thought for Abby - and me - for what we're going through today.:(

Thanks.
Dodie

It's not silly at all! We kitty lovers know how important they are in our lives and love them as much as anyone can!

Good thoughts for a speedy recovery for Abby! :D

:( Keeping your kitty in my thoughts.

((hugs))) Prayers and PD on the way!

Hope shes feeling better right away!

It's not silly at all. I'll say a prayer for your kitty. :)

Sending Prayers and Pixie Dust for Abbey and Dodie.

Hope your cat is feeling better. {{hugs}}

Your kitty is in my thoughts!!!! My kitty, Neo, had a spell last year....a bad one...the day before we were supposed to go to WDW....he was throwing up, couldn't eat, had a swelled face...it was so sad....we took him to the vet and they did tons of tests...they thought it was Feline Leukemia.....thank GOD it wasn't....come to find out he is allergic to seafood!!!!!!!!!!!! We had given him new food, seafood blend.........
sounds silly, but I was so thankful...even though all those tests were so hard on him...

I will pray for your kitty and you......hope all is well!

I have 5 cats and I know just how you feel. Lots of prayers and pixie dust for Abby.

She's beautiful!!! And it's not at all silly to ask for P&PD for your kitty! Sending lots of kitty-P&PD your way!!! Please keep us posted?

Just spoke with the vet.

The barium x-rays show one of two things. It is either a string-like foreign body that has worked its way through her system until it stuck in her lower intestine OR her intestines are constricted due to a virus that she had/has.

He took blood tests that will show if its due to a virus, but won't have the results back until tomorrow morning at 10:00 a.m. In the meantime, he's keeping her overnight, since she's had a tough day of tests.

If it's the virus - it's self-correcting. If it's a string (stupid cat), she'll have to have surgery to have it removed.:(

Please keep the good kitty thoughts coming for Abby. Thanks, DIS friends!

It's not silly at all. My cats are full fledged members of the family around here :D . I'll keep Abby in my thoughts.

Poor Abby.:( I will keep Abby in my thoughts, she is so precious and adorable. Hope she makes a full recovery. :D

All the good thoughts and pixie dust I can send are on the way! My dogs (dachshunds and a lab) and my kitties are my babies. I always worry when they aren't feeling well. Hoping all goes well with your kitty. Keep us updated, please.

Good thoughts to you and Abby. Kitties are part of your family so it is never silly to ask for pd or prayers. I have 6 cats and I worry about them when ever they're not up to par. Two are 17 and one is 16.

My prayers are with you and your baby..keep us posted on what is wrong..It's not silly at all, the same thing happened to one of my kitties a couple of years ago. His bowel irritation was healed with meds and a chicken and rice diet (along with a ton of kitty TLC) and he healed, but I remember how horrible it was to worry and not know what was wrong..I hope Abby is well in no time!

First of all, you have one beautiful furbaby!! I hope that the results show that it is only a virus and not anything that requires surgery. {{hugs}}

I'm not sure which to hope for. I don't like the virus and I really don't like the idea of surgery. Which ever it is, I hope it's easily taken care of.

Poor kitty. My mom's dog used to eat underwear :rolleyes: and I was always worried the fabric would get stuck. I hope it's not a string stuck in there :( but a virus doesn't sound good either. It sounds like you have a good vet and I'm sure your baby will be up and running around in no time.
