Final questions before trip -

I met with my friend for whom I'm planning a trip. She leave in a little more than a week. A few questions were raised tonight:

1. ADRs - would a $10 charge be incurred if only 2 people came to their 3 person Akershus reservation? My friend is unsure if her husband will go to the breakfast. I think the answer to this is no, they wouldn't be charged, as the party is still showing up...but I want to tell her for sure!

2. What kind of transport time is she looking at to/from the following places:
Epcot to DTD
AK to DHS
DTD to MK
POFQ to DTD

3. Characterpalooza - what's the best way to find out if this will be continuing to happen during her trip? Kenny the Pirate's site?

TIA!

1. No charge if at least one person in the party shows for the ADR.

3. Check Kenny's site for Palooza specifics because for right now, it is only confirmed through November 9th.

1) as long as any part of the group arrives for the ADR, no penalty is charged
2) I like the site OuLaughingPlace.com and their Transportation Wizard for calculating travel time between any 2 spots. I have since read around here that it's not always accurate, but I had good luck with it as long as you remember it is travel time only and you need to add in waiting for your bus/boat/monorail to arrive
3) Kennys site is best for info on charactepalooza

I know we have shown up with less than the number on the ADR and never been charged.

Mostly I'm just posting to say I hope you have an awesome trip, full of much magic and many great memories. :)

Can't get to/from DTD to/from a park. Have to go via a resort (or possibly TTC don't know about that).

I've done AK to DTD - the only one I've actually done is AK to AK lodge then to DTD. Depending on time of day it could be a longer wait for DTD bus (we waited quite awhile). I generally never estimate less than an hour to get from one place to another.

POFQ has a boat to DTD - it's maybe a 30 minute ride (probably over exaggerating). If the boat is not running (in case of freak lightening storm while you are at DTD for example) busses are CROWDED and stop at POR also (but POFQ was first, just had tons of other people on as well).

You can't go park to park, park to DTD or DTD to park direct. We did MK to DTD and back. We took the monorail from MK to Contemporary resport, bus from there to DTD, bus from DTD to Contemporary, monorail back to MK. We budgeted about 2 hours (we had a BBB appt at DTD and then CRT at MK) and it took about an hour each way.

I assume that would be the best option for Epcot to DTD and DTD to MK, I can't speak for AK to DHS.

Incorrect. There are park-to-park buses (and monorail for MK-Epcot, and boat or walking for Epcot-DHS).

ghtx already addressed the park-to-park transportation, but just wanted to point out that it's much faster if one walks from CR back to MK as the resort monorail makes stops at TTC, Poly and GF before getting to MK when riding from CR to MK.

So you can go park to park, but not DTD to park (and vice versa), correct?

Would the walk from CR to MK be faster than taking a bus from DTD to GF, and taking the resort monorail from GF to MK (where MK would then be the first stop)?

Thanks (to all!) for the confirmation on the ADR issue. I hope all 3 end up.going, but just in case it is good to know!

And thanks for the good wishes :). I finally started getting really excited yesterday..it is really happening now! I can't wait to get to MK on Friday :)

I could be wrong (and apparently I've been wrong before :rotfl2:) but I believe the CR bus from DTD made another stop. I want to say Poly. When we got to the bus stop at DTD I was just looking for any bus that took us to any monorail resort. The thought of a ten minute walk with DD3 and DD6 who had spent the day fighting over use of the stroller with the loser insisting on being carried wasn't appetizing.

I will freely admit logical thinking had gone out the window about 4 hours prior to deciding to take the monorail from CR back to MK

It's entirely possible that a bus from DTD to GF may also make a stop at another MK resort. It just depends on the time of day and crowd levels. I agree that with little ones in tow, a few extra minutes waiting for the monorail may be worthwhile.

After a frustrating and time-consuming experience trying to get from a park to DTD one trip (which involved multiple monorails, going to a hotel, waiting for a bus, etc.), I realized that it was much more efficient to grab a cab from the park to DTD! Well worth the money for the time-savings and frustration-avoiding!
