Wanting to give clarity to a discussion that cropped up in the in-laws/debarkation thread. Apparently the final morning's "continental breakfast" in the buffet may contain regular hot buffet items. One poster says that the hot items will appear only on the Wonder, not the Magic. Can anyone confirm that experience as something they, too, experienced? Another poster seemed to say there were pancakes but nothing their DS wanted to eat, but the story goes on to say they fixed the problem by getting ...pancakes. So if anyone else can shed light on the matter, that would be good "inside" info to know (we've been duped on 3 prior cruises into thinking that the buffet's offerings resembled the room service breakfast menu).

Leaving in about 27 hours!!!

At the sitdown breakfast in the dining room on the last day you are given a menu with prefix? selections to choose from. Scrambled eggs with bacon, mickey waffle with sausage, chopped ham & cheese scramble. Things like that but no fried eggs, hash, omlettes or pancakes. This is the same menu that you are given for the character breakfast. You also have choices of continental breakfast items like donuts, muffins, toast, danish and fruit. I might be a little mixed up on which meats come with which dish, but you get the idea.

I agree--but I'm speaking only of the Wonder. They have combos to choose from, but it's not continental. It's hot, and has enough selections that we all got pretty much what we would've eaten anyway. The only exception I can think of is made to order things, like omelets.

Have a wonderful trip!!!! :Pinkbounc

Maybe I wasn't clear--I am well aware of the farewell breakfast menu in the dining rooms, have eaten the farewell breakfast three times, and indeed, the menu is about the same as the character breakfast.

My question was regarding the "continental breakfast" that is advertised as being available in the buffet restaurants on deck 9 as an alternative to the sit down breakfasts. It was reported elsewhere that the "continental" breakfast actually included the same hot buffet items as on other mornings, minus the made to order omelets. Then it was reported that the hot food appears in the buffet only on the Wonder, not the Magic. I was asking for input from people who have partaken in the deck 9 buffet breakfast on debarkation morning, not the AP, PC or Tritons/Lumieres debarkation breakfasts.

When we were on the Magic Nov 2004 the last day's buffet breakfast included hot food. I remember scrambled eggs, sausage, bacon, hash brown patties and oatmeal among other things. This was new though as on the last 2 cruises on the magic only offered a donuts, bagels and cereals. I don't know if they offer hot food on every cruise on the last day. The things that we offered did seem like they were leftovers from other days. If they weren't they meats and hashbrowns were really overcooked and dried out.

I believe what happened there was that DH went to their assigned dinning room and asked their waiter for some pancakes and the waiter brought them to DH and then DH took them to their room.

Logan - Good luck with the breakfast, have a margarita for me and don't forget the midnight room service!!!!! :mickeybar Have a great time!!!!

LOL! That was me actually. My DS didn't like any of the cold items so I ran down to AP where our servers were & got some pancakes for them & brought the covered plate of them back up to TS. :) We went in 11/03 & there were only cold items then. We chose to go to our assigned dining room in 12/04 because of our experience the previous cruise.

Just wanted to second this...This sounds ALOT like what was offered in September 04

I see, he didn't like the COLD items, and only WANTED pancakes (I had been reading "only pancakes" to have a different meaning, sorry!)

So thank you all for contributing to something that I really had no idea about, that being the hush-hush hot buffet upstairs in case the 6:45 time for us didn't agree w/ DS (he was the last one out of the Lab on the Wonder in January on the last night, and at 72 pounds he is too heavy to carry if he is too tired to walk).

So, since I am the earliest riser, I will scoot up to deck 9 and take a look around, and if there have been no complications and the hot buffet is set up, I'll give DW and DS the choice when I get back to the room!

Thanks all!
