Filler gifts for a college aged boy?

Alcohol He's in college- nuff said- wouldn't that be a surprise??

If he's a freshman living at home I'd think he would be underage for alcohol. It would surprise my Godson-he goes to a Catholic University that is a dry campus. I'm not so naive to believe everyone follows that policy but I wouldn't contribute to it.

StitchFan73: I give the AAA membership renewal to my oldest son every year for Christmas. He supports himself almost completely on his own, so there are some things he might not choose to spend his cash on. This way, I feel safer about him being on the road AND I don't have to get up in the middle of the night should he lock his keys in his car... again.

Along with my DS's larger gifts, each year I make him a box of his favorite foods that he won't buy for himself...smoked oysters, pickled okra, canned ham, sausage log, Dijon mustard, Giardiniera, boxes of crackers, Starbucks coffee, chocolate rolled wafers, jarred gourmet fruit, etc. He loves it!

My two sons have gotten a number of these ideas for the last few Christmases. One year all they pretty much got from us were gift cards. It was fun to see them go off together shopping.

The love the gas cards and the movie cards.

My younger son is asking for a futon for his room here at the house. May not get much use if he gets the internship near his college this summer.

Get a book light . . . my mom just got one for DS15 and he LOVED it.

memory cards, usb drives? I know I go thru a massive amounts of these.

Another gift might be an external hard drive for his computer?

Any accessories for ipods, headphones? Headphones are big for me because I run with them on a daily basis and tend to destroy them fast.

I know I'm a girl, but my mom buys cases of Gatorade for me for Christmas I get a case of my favorite Gatorade since i'm a runner and don't drink soda.

My mom gives me socks. I know, who wants to recieve socks but with cross country and track; I go thru socks like mad.

Another idea is if he is planning to do something like a trip later in the year (like something that needs flights or something); give him a little plane and write a letter that states you will buy the ticket at the time of the trip. I know I'm getting a London, England postcard with money (at the time of my trip) for my class trip in may.
