We are a family of 4 w/ 2 children under 10. I booked for the fall free dining and was quite happy. (value Pref 6N w/ 5 day base tickets)
Then a friend said I should switch to take advantage of kids stay, play and eat free. But you know what? When I ran the #s the free dining was less expensive for our family! Paying for the dining plan for dh and myself totally washes out getting the kids passes and their free dining (room of course was free for them either way).
I use to always book ala carte. Snag a room w/ AAA and hope for a room only discount, buy my passes through a ticket broker and we did dining ono ur own. We had great affordable trips. But now w/ these deals, it seems to make more sense to buy a pkg....you just have to be careful as to which one you choose! LOL
Our same trip above priced out alacarte w/ AAA rate, tickets through broker and $650 food budget = $2100
the cost w/ kids play, eat & sleep free $1720
the cost w/ free dining $1580 $520 savings over AAA!
Just thougt I'd share. And now they're offering codes for summer travel, I wonder how that will compare to the above? I'm tending to think Disney's first offer is usually the best...and then if they still need to fill rooms they make other offers available, but never quite as good as the 1st.
