I've been reading the posts on the DDP changes; the restaurants eliminated, etc....DH and I are checking into VWL on March 17. Is it really going to be THAT impossible to get ADR's??

People are making it sound like it's going to be worse than buying Cabbage Patch Kids or Tickle Me Elmos! Is it really that much of a stampede to get ressies at your 180 day window, with or without DDP?????

Here's my opinion.....

Do Not Give Up, Nor Get Too Upset.....

I found the best way to tackle this is to have 2-3 places you would like to dine for each day of your stay. If your first choice isn't available, opt for the second.

Next, keep in mind that people cancel ressie's every day! I have been trying since July 1st to get ressies at MM for the Fantasmic dinner package, and after several calls, was finally able to get the ressies today.

Don't get discouraged, be willing to make some adjustments to your plans (again, by picking 2-3 places to dine on a particular day) and call every couple of days.

At this time, I have been able to get all the dining locations I wanted, on the days and times I wanted.

Good luck.....and don't get discouraged!

I think it depends on how big your party is. Just like any restaurant, it's harder to get a reservation for 8 than 2.

That being said, DH & I are headed to the World in three weeks, and made the majority of our reservations 6 weeks out. We got everything that we wanted at the times we wanted. I even called today at got Chefs de France added for the specific day and time I wanted.

I think you need to make ADRs, but making them at teh 180 day mark is probably not necessary.

I think it will be. I made my adr's 180 in advance yesterday the first day I could the min they opened and cinderella sold out already. I got in byt not at the8 seating I wanted but at 9:05 still fine with me, but now that chef's, raglen road, marakesh all of morraco and japan is in pending mode. Some cm say no they are still part of it cause chefs, and marakesh are disney owned raglen is not so they did not know if it would be back but thought a good chance it would be. they said hold out and call back but I am scared to risk it. Others are already canceling and changing. ugh :furious:

Along with the DDP, your party size, month, day of the week , time, etc do have a part to play
That said-we're a party of 6 (DDE, not DDP) going down for 7 days on 9/16. Made our ADR's at least a month and a half ago. Had absolutely NO trouble getting the days/ times we wanted for dinner at these spots--V&A, Raglan Road, San Angel Inn, California Grill, Blue Zoo, Jiko, and Brown Derby. Most dinners were for 6:00--California Grill for a Saturday night at 8:00.

I got all our Adrs with no problem; however, CRT I booked for 2-1-07 is almost at the end our vacation. The lady I spoke to said that they where not doing Adrs for 2-1-07, when I reminded her that our vacation started 1-27-07 she had to verify our resort confirmation number. Once that was confirmed I did get CRT only 15 minutes later than I requested. I thought that someone should have told me this information would have to verified, it could have cost me CRT! I also stared calling at 6:50, myself on land line, husband on cell, just kept hitting redial! After I got thru I was hold prob 5 minutes, and boy did it seem like forever! As soon as she answered i said CRT for 2-2-07 @ 5:00, no hello no nothing! I learned this from Unofficial Gide to WDW. This method seem to work for me, call 180 days out exact! in response the the post that said it would be easier to get a table than for 6, well that is not true. I called 2mths before our scheduled trip and got most of the places i wanted to eat at, but b/c we were only a two top instead of four we were not able to be seated at the time we wanted. there are more four or more tables than two seater tables. So sorry if i sound rude I just dont want others to think that, this is the case, just plan ahead and try, try again if you do not succeed at first. Everyone have a great trip.

Sorry...have to disagree with this one, and back up the other poster. Based on lots of experience, as is true with MOST restaurants at the World or elsewhere, it is always easier to get a table for 2 people over 5+. When my wife and I used to go years ago (granted this was before MYW dining), it was always easy to seat 2 people. Since Disney is famous for large groups and gathering, it is a lot harder for the big groups to get seating togehter or at preferred times. We are going in November, and had made reservations for our party of 3...no problem anywhere. Then a few weeks later, we had a couple of our friends who were going to be joing us...tried to change a lot of our reservations to 5 people, and several places we were out of luck. It's easy to add up to 4 people, since you are still the same table size, but larger groups get harder. This poster may have just been unlucky.
