Fifth Park - what do you think would work?

Knowing that Disney has been increasing resorts and just modifying existing parks wouldn’t another park be great for experience as well as wait times??? I’d love to see another park open that focuses on big thrill rides to satisfy the thrill seekers. This way you can still keep all of the magic from MK, Epcot etc. but provide more excitement for those looking for it while spreading crowds out amongst more parks. What would you like to see in a fifth park? What would work, provide something new and different and still keep the magic of Disney??

This is a tough one because Universal has done a REALLY good job on the thrill ride front. Disney has some good thrill rides--Everest, Rock n Roller Coaster, Tower of Terror. They don't have anything close to The Incredible Hulk, The Mummy or Harry Potter rides though, which are all better than anything at Disney. I think Disney could make really good thrill rides but wonder if they want to. If they did, the Marvel franchise offers all sorts of possibilities.

Much discussed.
5th park unlikley.

HUGE investment to build and maintain.
HUGE number of new CMs to operate.

Relatively few additional tickets would be sold.

Added tickets sold would actually be near the $30 level.
(Typical of adding one day to a 6-day ticket.)

Boo! I know it would bring my teens to WDW with much more excitement! At some point something will have to give with crowds so if prices are going to go up anyway I’d rather have something else to justify it.

Well even if they did build a fifth park, by the time it opened your teens would be adults.

No. All adding a 5th park would do is require the investment of even more infrastructure/overhead. Any new attractions could be added to the existing four parks much easier.

I don’t really want them to add a 5th park. It’s hard enough for us to do all the things we like to do on our weeklong trips. Adding a 5th park to work in would actually add more stress :)

They can be excited about Tron & GotG Cosmic Rewind, both under construction right now, though :)

Well, there’s currently a pandemic going on that’s paused construction on some projects and will undoubtedly cause the cancellation of others. They’ve lost hundreds of millions of dollars from this. I don’t see how a new park is anywhere on their top list of things to do.

don’t remind me!!! As adults they’d prolly be more willing to come down with their families-especially if nana and pop-pop watch the grandkids!

gives us more reason to be part of that 2 weeks or longer crowd!! Darn, have to stay longer to get it all done!! * We have only ever gone 3-5 nights so that is more wishful thinking!!!

I just hope they reopen fairly soon, and complete construction on Tron, Ratatouille and the Guardians coaster.

It's true that a fifth gate would be unlikely until the 2030s, at the earliest. But if they did decide to go ahead with it...my vote would be for a clone of DisneySea, the sister park to Tokyo Disneyland. It has the reputation of being perhaps the greatest theme park in the world. They could do some high tech plussing of that park, while still saving a great deal on blue sky development costs, since it would be a clone. Let's face it, how many of us will actually visit Japan?

I love thinking about a 5th park. I don't think it'll happen anytime soon which is unfortunate considering the new resorts being built. I personally dislike how Hollywood Studios is a bit of a hodge podge of ideas.

I feel like there would have been a decent case for a Pixar themed park like a Pixar version of Magic Kingdom where it captures all the imagination, rides and character meet and greets over the many movies. They have Cars Land in Disney Land they could have replicated to create a fair portion of the park, and I'd move the Lightning McQueen Racing Academy show there. Of course the Ratatouille ride could exist at Epcot as planned just like a Mickey and Minnie ride can exist in Hollywood Studios and not in Magic Kingdom. I feel they could even go forward with this idea if they wanted to, even with Toy Story land in Hollywood Studios as Pixar still has other really popular franchises. There's also nothing stopping them from having another Toy Story attraction here though I probably wouldn't theme a large section after it now that Toy Story Land exists, unless you do something movie specific like a Woody's Roundup retro theme.

I think there was a real opportunity to capitalize on the Star Wars franchise as it's own park too. The issue with my aforementioned ideas is they are all a bit too specific and themed, perhaps almost niche.

I think as @Davey Jones II said, Disney Sea (I've never been, but have heard good things!) would be a really cool option and there's a template to follow there.

Unfortunately Universal Orlando contractually has rights to Avengers on the East Coast so something that would incorporate The Avengers is off the table. I think something Marvel related would have made a lot of sense as again it's specific but definitely wildly popular right now and even if it slows down, there's generations of fans (old school comic book lovers and those raised on the MCU) that could make it marketable. That said, I wonder if concepts and tech they're using for Avengers Campus at Disney Land could be re-fitted for another Disney owned property to save money on R&D if they wanted to come out with a new park that would use some of those concepts from that particular area in Disney Land.

Again, I think they took some great ideas and stuck them in Hollywood Studios when you probably could have gotten another theme park out of these.

I'd love a 5th gate but there's still so much potential left to build and recreate in the 4 existing parks. Disney Sea would get my vote for a 5th if the time comes.

Plus there's advanced resort experiences to develop, Star Wars hotel the first to come online. Depending how well that does over the next 5 yrs, they could build other themes. Haunted Mansion anyone? :)

Odds of another theme park in the next 25 years? I’d put it at a 15-20% chance. Definitely a thrill ride type of thing, theme would be interesting. I can’t come up with anything that hasn’t already been mentioned.

SCIENCE PARK with
Microscopicland where real tiny microscopic beasts become 10ft tall, and you shoot them with antibacterial bullets (Does Disney own Ant Man?)
Mathland where you get to ride inside a function as it reaches its limits, and go on a hunt for i
Physicsland where you play with magnets, electromagnets, and gravity
Chemistryland where you create your own compounds and small explosions.

Slime should be included somewhere in the scheme. In lots of colors.

Clearly, imagineering would create cooler labels, and associated characters and theming... but I’d totally pay extra to go to this park. I think Avengers could fit nicely.

Fifth Gate is doubtful in the foreseeable future but I would love a Villains Land!

With what is currently going on, if there was a 5th park being designed, it has been cancelled.
At this point in time, I think a 5th gate is highly unlikely. They just put a huge amount of money in HS and are adding a lot to EPCOT. The 50th for MK is coming up, and more added there. There are plans for potential addition to Pandora or possbile changes to Dinorama.
With the amount of money they are spenidng on these additions, a new park just doesn't look to be in the budget for at least 5 to 10 years, if then.
A villans land would be awesome!

As someone who has been to Disney Sea, I’m not sure a Florida copy of it would work. While there are a ton of unique attraction themes, the ride systems are almost all represented in the parks already. And it doesn’t have the same level of IP theming they seem to want now, or the classic “Disney” feel that I think so many people are looking for.
