Does anyone know if this is that same Fiesta ware that penney's sell? I've been eyeing that in the catalog. I was thinking of the white, but is it white or a creamy color? I can't tell from the book. Also if anyone has the white, does your silverware scratch it all up? I currently have pfaltzgraff and my silverware has put lovely gray scratches all over my dishes.
Thanks!
Yes, JCPenny catalog does sell it. I bought a couple of serving pieces from them. They are cheaper if you buy 2 or more and I must have had a coupon.
I have a white disk pitcher that I display and a white chop plate trimmed in cobalt, tangerine, cinnabar and sunflower (I think that's it--would have to look to know for sure)--I use it as a smaller serving platter. BTW, the chop plate was called "cobalt tones", it took me forever to get it. I found out that it was made only for
Amazon, so if you are a complete Fiesta addict, you may want to keep on the look out for these sorts of pieces. Back to the ?--it is regular white, not a cream or bisque color. Plain, regular white. I don't use silver much on the chop plate, but I would not be concerned with scratches as much as with the darker colors. I love my Fiesta, but the darker colors if used often will show surface scatches.
To the OP: When I first started buying Fiesta, I went to a dept. store and took several of thier display pieces and put the colors I was thinking about together. If you have a background color you want to compliment, grab a placement of a similar color, just to see how they look together.
Five years later, I don't have much rhyme or reason to mine. I have 7 different colors and we just use them. I never give thought to trying to match anything. That is my personal preference.
I LOVE my multi-stripe glasses I purchased from Amazon. If you combine several colors, they look cute and they are nice quality.
I have to agree with other posts that megachina will likely get you the best deal. Shop around, though, you may find some specials or freebies.
