I don't know why I'm up so late...I drove 6 hrs today to get back to Knoxville so I could make Fiddler on the Roof rehearsals. Everything is settled. turns out I only missed 1 rehearsal and all they've done so far is go over songs. I'm quite familiar with the score.
Good news and bad news. The good news is that there is no problem with me not being able to do the touring part of the shows run in March. (a whole extra month of performances in a city about 45 minutes away.) I can't afford to miss that many classes, and I want my spring break free so my friend Chris can come visit! So now I get to both do a show and go home over spring break I'll be in the show throughout most of Feb.
The bad news is...I don't get to be one of Tevye's daughters...I'm in the chorus again. *sigh* People keep telling me that I have a wonderful voice and that my time will come...but it's been 8 years since my first musical, and I'm no closer to getting passed chorus than I was then. Is it so wrong to want a real role? I'm thinking I will be a chorus girl for the rest of my life.
They have me playing one of the mothers. Funny, I always thought I looked younger than my age not older. Of course, all the "daughters" except the main 3 look to be about middle school age. So I go from being a farmer's wife in Oklahoma to being a Jewish mother with 3 children in Russia....
