they probably identified so many of their own qualities with him that they hated him. holden is everything that you shouldn't like about yourself. he's needy, indesisive, he can be cruel, he is lost and doesn't necessarily want to be found. but, underneath all of that, holden is a child. he needs to be taken care of, but he thinks he's too old to ask anyone to. and that is the quality that you fall in love with, over all of his faults, you just want to take care of him.

if someone didn't like him, its probably because they saw too much of themselves in him.

I think a lot of people find him too negative.
Recently I've been kind of feeling like him. Like.. I don't konw. I want to reread this book so bad.
I connect to him a lot.

Chuck Bass.
Pudge from Looking For Alaska / Quentin from Paper Towns (I find these characters quite similar. I like Pudge more, because I really could love a guy like him).
Wilson from House.
Lupin.
Elphaba.
Jack from Will & Grace.
Marco from Degrassi. (in freaking love with this character. oh my god)
Eric Foreman from That 70's Show
Van from Reba.
Will Hayes (Ryan Reynolds) in Definitely, Maybe. I just wanna hug him during that entire movie.
Goofy (I was watching A Goofy Movie today, I wish he was my dad, well not literally)
