Hi there.

I know some of us are really struggling right now so I wanted to do a check in and see how everyone is feeling.

The switch from summer to fall really gets me. I dont know if its the air pressure or the sudden drop of temps but ow I am really sore right now.

How are you feeling? Is there anything that is working for you to control the pain and the fog?

Just got off a 5 day rainy streak. The pain was horrible. I'm really dreading winter. I have such a hard time.
I only use OTC meds for pain. They don't always work but I'm just not ready to start down the other path. I'm stubborn.

Anything been working for you?

the flexaril (sp?) seems to help but its tough to take if I want or need to be, oh I don't know, conscious

DH is up for a promotion and they are talking about moving us to Denver. I am excited but at the same time concerned about the altitude issue.

hi...I always have a hard time with the change from summer to fall, too. I'm trying to get to bed early and just get as much rest as possible. If I can take a nap, I do.

I took flexaril years and years ago - you are so right about that "conscious" part!

I am not supposed to take NSAIDs (advil, aleve) anymore. Tylenol provides less relief than eating a couple of jelly beans (at least they taste good).

I knew several people who got transferred to Denver (high) from Houston (low). It was an adjustment at first, but their bodies did adapt pretty quickly.

Sore. :(

I've been on Lyrica for a year now? It's doing squat for me, other than packing on the pounds. I'm trying to wean off of it now but it's very tough; the side effects of tapering down is nasty.

And I'm looking at a stack of blood test forms that I need to get done. I hate blood tests!

sorry, I know this is a tough time for most of us. I dont know why but it is definately the hardest season pain and fatigue wise.

Thanks for the info about Denver I havent been through in years so I dont know yet how my body will take it. I usually do ok with flights as long as I am not still for too long so maybe I will adjust ok too.

I think I am going to sit in the hot tub for now though. Another thing I have to remember to put on my "must list" for the new house LOL it really seems to help.

I was miserable 2 weeks ago. I slept every day just to function at night. Last week was better, but our temps have been in the 70's. Today is good, but I can't predict anything past right now!

It is a hard time of year here also. The transition between seasons is always the worst.. I have been freeeeeeezing at my son's football, and that sets off awful flares. I need to live somewhere warm..

I am kind of excited because we just booked a cruise last night, and I can not wait..I always feel better there ;)

Yeah, we are moving to Mississippi soon, and I can't wait to be in a warmer climate. I hope that it helps!

Not that I wish this pain on anyone but I am glad to hear I am not the only one suffering with this weather. My family just doesn't understand when I can't even open the cabinet.
My fingers hurt so bad just typing this hurts. Nothing has helped at all.
I really need to move out of this state.

I actually haven't been hurting as much this week. :confused3

I did drag out my space heater and am sitting in the warmth as I type. Maybe that helps as it keeps me from being too cold.

I am tired as heck though. I just got up and want to go back to bed. We were going to a movie but DH is willing to wait for tomorrow.

I take flexaril but only 10 mg. I can't take nsaids anymore du to reactions to it so I use darvocet. I try to take it only once a day and usually in the evening so it helps during sleep. If I can get to sleep instead of rolling around trying to avoid pain, it is a good thing.

A friend of mine will call me up and say "How are you doing" as a greeting to which most just answer "fine".

You know it's kind of like "Hi" and "Hello". Except when you say "fine" to her she will say "no you're not - none of us feel good today." :)

I am very fortunate not to have a lot of the pain component (yet), but oh the fatigue. No one can understand either how you literally just can't move on certain days. I mean I could move if the house was on fire - but that's about it.

minnie, its great that you have a friend like that.

:)

Checking in today. I was doing better yesterday was able to get quite a bit done but today I am just bagged. I have that bone weary dont make me do anything drag today. I was fine at church but by the time I got home I just lost any motivation at all.

Flexeril helped me sleep real well last night at least :)

Glad to see this thread, I was just feeling sorry for DS because my DF (obviously his DGF) had to cancel his trip up here to see DS play football because DGF is flaring so badly. He was forced to retire early from teaching on disability because of it over a decade ago, and I just feel so badly for him.

On a positive note: is there really any truth to the fact that climate can change/help with it? He says his doesn't necessarily follow the weather, but he's in such a "fog" these days, I'm taking what he says with a grain of salt;)

Hugs to all of you, and hoping for some "fine" days ahead...

Terri

I don't know anyone else with fibro. My doctor said that I was not in need of anything. When I asked about getting a disable card for the card when things are bad and (like at Disney when we end up having to park at the far end) I was told that fibro is not a disability. That I am fine. I have been diagnosed by a specialist so it is not a matter of getting a diagnosis from no one special. I am so sore so much of the time but people just think I am lolligaging.

My fatigue is really killing me. Does anyone have any tips how to get past the sleepiness?
It's so bad my DH has had to take over the laundry and other stuff.

First things first.....FIND A NEW DOCTOR. You can't expect to get any help from an idiot.

I went through a difficult time getting loved ones to understand how disabling fibro can be. It's difficult to deal with the pain and changes to your lifestyle. I finally decided I would only do what I could comfortably do. I found ever piece of written literature to leave lying around. I think the real eye opener for DH was when I had to rent a scooter on our last visit to Disney.

Weather change is difficult for me too. I went for two years without any relief. I was finally diagnosed with Lyme disease. I am doing much better....at least considering how bad it was. I sometimes take meds at night...to get comfortable. I take several herbal meds. I bought a foam matteress...it helps a lot. I take B-12 shots on a regular basis...seems to help with the fatigue.

Fibro stinks but, it least it's not life threatening. I'm not going to let it get the best of me.

I deleted it, it was too depressing. Sorry for posting it in the first place.
It was a "letter from fibro"

I think the change from summer to winter is so hard! Both the lower temperatures, and the shorter days effect pain and fatigue.
here is the regiem that keeps me going:
1. Wellbuetrin every morning for the "blahs"
2. A "ATP" supplement for the pain (almost completely controls it)
3. A high protien diet during the day
4. Pretty much complete rest once i get home from work
5. A Hot bath (and I mean hot!) every night
6. 10 mg of Ambien every night to sleep

My "A la Carte menu"

1. Chiropractor around every 6 weeks for adjustment
2. Deep tissue and myofascial release monthly

Binny ! I hope you feel better soon.
