Fiasco Dinner show, Dixie Stampede

How about the Pirate Adventure dinner show? Anybody have any luck with that one. My DS (3) loves Pirates, but I'm worried that it might be too scary.

Dont worry, I think your son would enjoy this show very much! The stage (made to look like a huge ship) is really cool, and the fight scenes (during the rescue of the princess) aren't really scary at all.
The comedy is a little corny, food isn't THAT impressive (but not bad either), and the show is VERY kid oriented (they even invite the kids to do a celebratory kind of pirate march near the end).

We actually took our 2.5 year old and she loved it... she was shouting "Pirate! Look, Pirate Jumping!! " It was a fun show and I'd recommend it for alll kids, especially ages 4-12.

We've been to Dixie Stampede, Medieval Times and Arabian Nights in other cities. IMHO if you can only do one Dixie Stampede is the best.

Just back this week and went to Dixie Stampede on Tues. We've done two other dinner shows in Orlando, the outta control magic show at Wonderworks (loved it) and Arabian Knights which we enjoyed although the food might be the worst we've ever eaten out publicly.

We arrived at Dixi Stampede early and my daughter who is a horse crazed child really enjoyed strolling past the stables and checking out the horses etc. We booked late (2 days before) but still had great seats in the third row. I don't think there is a bad seat in the house, really. The preshow was fun with this electric cowboy riding his horse up and down stairs, between seated guests etc. The food was good and there was lots of it. Although I had heard that they didn't give you silverware, they did.

My DGD7 was picked to be in the show to chase the chickens and received a medal and it was the highlight of her trip. Just as a sidenote, they wanted my husband and I to be in it also (DH was picked at Seaworld too, I told him we must have "tourist dork family" scrawled across our foreheads ) but because I didn't have backs on my shoes (was wearing Birks), we couldn't. It ended up we would have rode around on wooden stick horses, so the shoe thing ended up being a good thing!! But, if you like that celebrity, famous stuff, wear closed back shoes and you might get picked!

We enjoyed this show but surprisingly we found Arabian Knights more enjoyable (again, with the exception of the food). Arabian Knights horse choreagraphy (sp?) was outstanding. Really took our breath away and while I didn't really follow the story, I could have watched those horses all night. In fairness, DS is a totally different kind of show with more than just horses. It was good, stompin kind of fun-- but I have to say, it was gettin kind of looong and that Dolly look-a-like was startin' to git to me!!!! But, my DD12 horse girl liked the Dixi Stampede better, so what do we know?!

Oh ,and- it said no flash photography or video but when DGD went down into the arena, they did come up and tell us to feel free to photograph or video which we did, so in case you do become famous , you might want to bring your camera. I'm glad we had ours and we have this memory on tape for her!

Not meaning to hijack this thread, but would you mind explaining the "loved it" about wonderworks show? I'm about 90% sure we need to see this, but I'd love to hear your thoughts/experience with it. Did you do just the magic show, or the "whole shabang" with wonderworks, etc. Thanks for any info on this, and again, I hope the OP doesn't mind my adding to their post with more ?'s.

We just did the outta control magic show with the pizza dinner included. We didn't do Wonderworks or the laser show etc. We found the comedy / Magic show to be hilarious. Our girls were 10 & 12 and we all just laughed and laughed. We found it to be truly a family, funny show. It was pizza and beer, wine and pop and it wasn't bad pizza. I'm pretty sure with the coupons, the show and dinner for four of us was under $50. It's pretty tame comedy with audience participation. I'm not a huge comedy buff but I loved this show.

DS cost $151 for 3 adults. Right now, they are running a special that kids under 12 get in free with a paying adult. So, my DGD7 was free but DD12 was adult admission. I booked directly through them. Ticketmania is usually cheaper but wasn't running the child free special so I went directly through DS.

We did Dixie Stampede in Myrtle Beach last August. My DS 4 still talks about it. By far, the best part of his beach trip (and we did a lot.) We sat in the last row, which worked out for us because my DS2 was able to move around. I love the soup and bisquits. Yummy! Also we didn't have to pay for the 2 year old. They said he would have to sit on our laps and wouldn't get a dinner of his own, but there was plenty of room and plenty of food to share. Unfortunately he loved the soup and bisquits too!

I think for our Orlando trip we may try the Pirate show for something different. The boys both love Pirates. I hope they won't be disappointed. If they are, they'll just have to wait until August to go to Dixie Stampede again.

I forgot, it may be different in Myrtle Beach, but we took lots of pictures. We took a few of the show, that didn't really come out and lots of my boys enjoying the show. No one said anything to us about it. I can't remember but I'm sure I checked before hand.

The Outta Control show is $19.95 per adult. Are there any coupons in those little coupon books you find around town?

Dinner Shows are my favorite thing to talk about at work. I sell tickets to them everyday. I have seen every dinner show in Orlando and I think the best one for kids is the Pirates Dinner Adventure. Yes, Dixie Stampede is good, but Pirates is very interactive. They get all the kids in the audience involved. That alone made it my kids favorite. The food is one of the best too. They have all you can eat appetizers during the preshow.

We enjoyed the Dixie Stampede--especially the pre show with the horse that went up the stairs. The thing I didn't like was the beginning of the regular show when they ran the buffalo out into the ring. It may have been that the riders were getting a little aggressive, but the baby buffalo were getting knocked around quite a bit by the rest of the herd as they chased them. We felt sorry for them--they were SO CUTE!

This post has me thinking we need to see this show. A night away from WDW would do us good. When tickets are purchased are the seats assigned at that time (like Hoop Dee Doo Review) or do they asisgn your seats when you check in the night of your performance?

I do know that Skull Kingdom (which hasn't been doing too well lately) just added a "magic" dinner show, but I haven't heard anything about it.

The official name is "Chamber of Magic at Skull Kingdom." The show is very simple, no big flashy tricks, and with an accent on comedy. My wife and I went to see it not expecting it to amount to much and we were both in stitches.
