It was a mix of a Ford Fusion and Toyota Corolla. Those were the two types of cars the driving school had when I went through the school.

Big old Chevy station wagon. This was in 1972, so I'm sure the car was from the early 60s. It was a boat, and I could parallel park it like a champion!

The Driver's Education car at school was a 1973 Pontiac Lemans. The car at home was a 1960 Buick LeSabre, a FAR different vehicle. Those old school cars had POWER steering that you could turn with your pinky, and POWER brakes that stopped the car if you sneezed on them. When I took my behind the wheel test the DMV tester was impressed that my dad had put seat belts......in the front only.....in. Prior to 1965 model year, seat belts were not required in cars.

Same here, but it was 1968 in Webster, Massachusetts. It was a standard (as was every car I had until the 80s), yet on the day of my driving test, the instructor came with an even bigger car that was an automatic! Believe it or not, I had a harder time driving the automatic since I wasn't used to it.

I learned on mostly stick shift cars. One was a Nash Rambler, a toyota sedan (can't remember the name), a cadillac that was as long as a boat. I bet it was 22 feet long, lol. I wish Mom and Dad had kept that caddie. It was a convertible that was the sparkly metallic blue with white leather interior. It had big old fins too. I love driving it. You could turn corners with one finger. I also learned on a l960 VW beetle. I miss the stick shifts on cars now. I am probably alone in this, but I actually loved driving a stick shift.

NO WAY NO WAY
...the station wagon... did it have those massive tail lights that look like jet engines and a folding seat in back
BUT the lime green...I never saw another one..my lasted from 1976 to 1981.. joined the army and waved good bye as it was towed away... one of many reasons I joined.... I can't believe this!!!!
