Few WL Questions

We have not booked yet, as this trip might not happen because of other travel plans, but if we do decide to go we will be staying at the WL. We've stayed here once before (2004) and loved it.

Anyway, I've already made ADR's (can you tell I'm a Disney fanatic yet?) for Kona and 'Ohana. We stayed at the Polynesian last summer and loved it as well, but it is very expensive limiting us to every other year, and staying at the WL in between. The ADR's are for ~10:00 AM. We usually get up around 7:00-8:00 AM and don't get out of the room until ~9:00 AM. Will we have enough time to get to the Polynesian, presumably via boat to MK, then monorail or boat to Polynesian?

As I mentioned before, we've stayed at the WL once before in 2004. Since then, I know the rooms have undergone renovations and look much better than the one we stayed in. Do the current rooms feel claustrophobic because of all the dark wood and detailing against the off-white walls? We really have no problem with this, but since there will be four of us, I don't want to feel too cramped.

Also, is the pool the same as it was in 2004? I'm aware there was a renovation last year, but I don't know if anything was changed or not. Are guests able to get towels at the pool, or do you have to bring ones from your room? Finally, are there an abundance of lounge chairs? Do they fill up really quickly, or will we encounter problems finding one that is available?

Thats all for now, but I might have some more questions later... as usual.

I think you should be fine leaving by 9am for your 10am ADR. You'll have a couple of options - either the resort boat to the CR and then onto the monorail or the boat to MK and then the monorail. Directly to CR would typically be faster. Also, the bus to MK and then the monorail is another option. We've never done the bus - like the boat too much - but I understand it's less than a 5 minute ride and takes you right to the number 1 stop.

We were there in Dec and I didn't find the room claustrophobic. I really liked the new beds and they now have flat screen tv's so that takes up less room. I thought it had a much larger feel than they used to albeit they still are smaller rooms than the other Deluxes.

The pool has not been changed. We've never encountered problems getting a lounge chair but may be related to the times of the year we've been there (Sept & Dec). There is also a quiet pool for the DVC section so if the main pool is busy you can try there. There are towels at both of the pools so you don't need to bring any.

Hope you get to make your trip and have a great time! :goodvibes

We were just there from the 11th to the 19th of April. We are a family of 4 and did not feel cramped in the room. Granted, they arre not as large as the Poly's rooms but they are fine.

I think an hour will give you plenty of time to get to your ADRs by taking the bus or boat to the MK or Contemporary and then taking the monorail. We went by car and it was only a 5 minute drive.

As far as the pool, we found it very crowded but were there at a busy time. In the afternoon, it was hard to find a lounge chair.

We had a great stay and my kids are already begging to go back next year!

I haven't been for a while, so transpo options might have changed, but the bus to the TTC used to run pretty frequently and the walk from TTC to Poly is pretty quick.

Thanks for the replies! It's a releif to hear I'll still be able to keep my breakfast ADR's without having to worry about transportation time.

When we stayed at the WL in 2004 (before any room renovations) we felt pretty cramped, and I think that was mainly because the armoire was so large to hold the tube television. We loved our room at the Polynesian because it was so large, and didn't feel clausterphobic at all... we stayed in the Tahiti building, so the room was a bit larger than ones in the older buildings there. :)

Thanks Again,

I believe that they stopped the TTC bus. It wasn't running in Dec any longer and it was my understanding that it was permanent change. Wish it wasn't so!!!

Really? I don't remember a TTC bus, but then again, I was more focused on just getting to the parks! :thumbsup2

It would be really nice if there was a TTC bus, but the boat to the Contemporary would be an excellent option as well. :)

And it may have been several years since they had the TTC bus. I think I remember it the very first time we stayed at WL but that was several years ago. I have also read about it in a few spots from other visitors and had finally looked for it in Dec and learned that it isn't happening anymore. The good thing though is that there is now a dedicated boat to the MK and there is no longer any sharing with FW so that's a nice change! :thumbsup2 And then of course there is the separate resort launch that goes between the CR, WL and FW.
