Few Questions about Dining Plan Usage

We're going to wdw in may and I'm debating adding the quick service dining plan to our package. Our family consists of myself, DH, ds(12 y.o. - an adult according to disney) and my 18 month old DD. My DH and I are pretty good eaters but my son is a light eater and VERY picky. I just figure he and my DD can share meals, DD isn't picky -- yet (ha ha). Still debating if it's worth it or not money wise, we don't really "do" dessert at quick service places so that's not really saving us any, ah I digress....

My questions about using the plan:

1. DH usually goes up to the QS counters and orders all of our food as I take the kids to find a table/seat to eat, is it possible for DH to use his KTTW card to order all of our meals and have the correct amount of credits deducted or does each person need to be present when ordering?

2. We're big water drinkers but don't want to "waste" our snack credits on beverages. We usually put a credit card on file to attach to our KTTW card for spending purposes, is it possible to have the beverage charged to our card without using any dining credits? Do we just tell the CM this is what we want to do when we hand over our card?

3. Is there a way to keep track of credits and remaining credits? Are they listed on receipts? Is it really a pain in the butt to figure out which credits to use for what and do all CM's know what counts as a snack and etc?

I think that's all for now, thank you for any help you can give!!

1. No you and the kids would not have to be in line with your DH. He just can't order more meals than he has people listed on the card. He can order less, just not more. They will deduct the correct total (2 adults and 1 child)

2. Unfortunately drinks are part of the plan and must be ordered when the meal is. If you order water only, then that is your beverage. A meal credit is a meal credit is a meal credit. The only time you can go back later and get something is if you get ice cream as a dessert, you can then go back after you eat your meal to get it (not several hours or days later though). I am also a water drinker and usually just wind up losing my beverage for that meal.

3. On the bottome of your receipt it will show how many meal credits were used and how many you have left. I believe the exact word they use is entitlements. Yes, all CMs do know what is a snack credit.

Just FYI: snack credits are most things under $4.00 that would not be considered a meal (hot dog, turkey leg, etc) and that is meant for a single person. For example, if you are in Goofy's Candy Factory and the bag is marked 'family size', they will no longer let you have it for a snack credit, but if the bag is not marked family size then they will. They will no longer let you have 1/2 gallon of milk, whole boxes of Eintemen donuts, large bags of chips and large containers of dip, etc. The French and Norwegian bakeries will let you have any of their pastries, (but not their sandwiches), for a snack credit and no the cheese plate at the French Bakery is a CS, not a snack credit. (Yeah, we saw a man arguing with the CM there this past May saying that he knew he was allowed a cheese plate as a snack credit. Not! )
