I'm what I would consider an intermediate knitter. I've made a few sweaters, some w/ cables. Recently I saw a felted handbag which was adorable that I had to try.

I did the first felting this morning, the purse went from 12 x 12 before the washing to 6 x 6 after, and I LOVE  the results. I am hooked. I immediately started another and now I want to do felted clog slippers. I came across a picture of the Fiber Trend felted clogs which looked nice.

Has anyone made these? Was the pattern easy to understand and follow. Before I buy the pattern, I want to make sure I'll be able to follow it. :scared:

I came across a "recycle your shrunken Fair Isle sweaters into felt" article in one of Martha Stewart's magazine, a few months ago. The teacup cosies she made & purses really looked neat. Then I saw the real deal at a craft fair last month. I can see how this could become quite quite an addictive craft.

I haven't done anything yet, but did read on some knitting felting forums that someone made some clogs. Maybe do a google search for other forums & boards.

Do you have a pic of your purse? I'd love to see it. :)

The FiberTrends felted clog pattern is GREAT! It costs a couple of bucks, but it is straight forward and easy to follow, and the finished products are amazing. The first thing I do when I get home every day is take off my shoes and put on my slippers! They are getting holes in them, as they're about two years old, so it's about time to start making some more!

I made my mom a pair for Mother's Day last year, and she loves them too. She has started dropping hints about another pair.

Felting is really amazing - so much fun! Just make sure that you put your items into a pillowcase to catch the fuzz, or you'll end up with a pricey washing machine repair!

Caboosey, thanks for the suggestion of the pillow case to catch the wool. I use a lingerie bag with lots of holes.

I'll post pictures when I can.:)

I mostly use a lingere bag too, but I also use a laundromat - so not my problem if I break the machines! The fuzz thing I have heard about on other knitting forums and wanted to pass along the news! :)

Sorry it took me so long to post the pic but here it finally is. These are the first two felted purses that I made.

welcome

My local knitting store has a class in the felted clogs which I registered for. Keeping my fingers crossed. lol

Thanks.:goodvibes

Waughzee, it's good to see you around here. It's a great group of people. :goodvibes

OoooH! Lisa those purses are so pretty! Great colors. I love the ruffle on the purple bag. :thumbsup2

How did you get the strap like that? It looks like cord in the picture.

Thanks! That ruffle was a bear to do but in the end it came out nice.

The strap is I-cord done with double pointed needles.

They look wonderful! Now you need to make one for touring the parks...something cross body in DIS lime green I think.
