Fellowship of the fisheye

Just purchased a fisheye for my Nikon digi SLR. So I'll be joining the Fellowship soon!

The photos here are gorgeous. Do you folks use tripods very often? Daytime? Night? Or the is capture of ambient light usually enough?

Thanks in advance. :santa:
In terms of light, they're about the same as any other lens... most fisheyes are not very fast (F2.8-F3.5) so you may get slower shutter speeds at night than you would with a fast prime. Of course, the wide angle can hide camera shake so that helps... but I think that most of the night shots you're seeing here are taken with a tripod.

How about something from my new toy - Lomography Fisheye 2 Camera (yes, I am serious, it is a toy).

The pic is vaguely Disney related - that's my Mickey Mouse coffee mug behind the train.

I just have a cheap Bower fisheye attachment lens, but I'm having a lot of fun with it! I like it for what it can do! No Disney pictures with it yet, just my son and his friends from our local skate park!!

normally as a rule, I don't keep a picture if the boys don't land the trick, but this one was soo neat and he was soo close to staying on the board!!

Thats pretty cool- I have been shooting a lot lately with my Holga fisheye lens- I have no idea the field of view though since I don't have any of the film develiped yet. I'm wondering if it covers the frame or is circular like this.

When I was looking to buy this, I did look at the Holga as an option but cheaped out to get the dedicated fisheye. The galleries I saw of people using the Holga with the fisheye also had the circular image, and I think it was actually a full circle, and not cut off top and bottom like mine (mind you I am shooting 35 mm and I believe you would use 120, so that makes some sense).

I have to say I am liking my toy and looking forward to taking it to Disney in March.

Thanks so much. Can't wait to experiment when my new lens arrives.

One of the fun features of the Lomography Fisheye 2 is the ability to do multiple exposures on the same frame easily. My musical son:

Exactly right- finally got it developed last night. I love Sams Club- 2x 120 rolls for $3 in one hour.

Nice set! Really like the double exposure - very cool! I was wondering what you were doing on digitizing? Are you scanning the negatives yourself or getting a CD with your order from Sam's Club?

Thanks- Sams just does the c41 processing- then I scan from the negatives with an Epson V500. I think it does a pretty good job for the money- HERE is a (non-holga) scan with a 100% crop for example.

Nice scanner! I am using this scanner which I got on sale, and sometimes you get what you pay for :lmao: - I have to try it out with some old slides, but it seems on the soft side on the negatives I have tried out. I might just return it and get a good scanner in the end.:confused3

ETA:
Right after I post I do a couple searches and find a factory refurbished V500 for $89.99 through a reputable Canadian store. I am returning the Ion Slides 2 PC and waiting on Purolator :bored:

Excellent- I think you will like it a lot. I think there is a company that makes a 3rd party film/slide holder for that model which is supposedly better than the one that comes with it but I have never had any problems with mine so I've never bothered with it.
