It's one of the reasons I love fall. What's your favorite pie. Mine is basic apple pie ala mode of course. Post your faves and send me or post your recipes. Yummy.
Like 4 or 5 years ago Gourmet did an edition all about apples. It had lot of apple recipes, including my favorite pie recipe. I lost the magazine and am so heartbroken.

I love pecan but I never bake them, because I always buy wicks pies which are better than I can bake!

I love pecan or apple in the fall. I make my apple pie with maple syrup rather than sugar...gives it an amazing flavor. Also use a crumb topping rather than crust based top.

In the summer I love blueberry, peach, or strawberry-rhubarb.

I could eat pie all the time!!!! I love pie!!!!!

For those who like pecans and apples - I was channel flipping and caught the tail end of Emeril's pie contest. One guy put pecans on the bottom of the pie pan (probably with some carmelly sauce, but I missed that part), then put in the bottom crust and layers of apples and carmel, then a top crust. After it was baked, he waited 5 minutes and then flipped it upside down. It looked so good and I'm not a pecan fan! Hmm - I think I'll go see if I can find the recipe online!

My favorite "fall" pie is pumpkin...sometimes I make two at a time because DH loves it too! Dh loves fruit pies: apple, cherry, etc. I love sweet pies: French Silk, etc.

Pies freeze well. So I always make an extra or two and put them in the freezer. Who on these boards was saying they made a peach custard pie. I would like to get that recipe.

That would be me. :) Although not a pie suitable for freezing, it is ultra-simple to make.

Peach Custard Pie

1 unbaked 9-inch pie shell
6 to 8 large peaches
3 eggs
1 cup sugar
pinch salt

Peel peaches and cut into large slices. Arrange in pie shell. Beat eggs, sugar and salt together and pour over peaches. Bake at 400F for 15 minutes. Reduce heat to 325F and bake 45 minutes more. Cool.

I prefer pie over cake, and there really isn't a pie I don't like, although mincemeat is probably my least favourite. Pear pie is a nice pie for Fall.

I saw this sign in a restaurant window when I was in New Hampshire recently. Live Free or Pie! ;) :)

It all depends on what I am craving. I just made an apple pie on Friday, so right now I am craving pumpkin...but prefer pumpkin bread over pumpkin pie.

I have a recipe book from the Apple Barn in Tennessee and it has awesome apple recipes, that is where my pie recipe is from.

I love banana cream, but also my moms (and mine now) homemade french silk chocolate! yum!

My favorite is my mom's cherry pie. My next pie will most likely be from a recipe a friend gave me for Toll House Pie. It sounds excellent.

Here's a link to Emeril's Pie Contest Recipes

Thanks for putting the pie contest links. I meant todo that. I can't wait til apples really start coming in. I want to do that upside down pecan apple pie. I'm also going to try the taco pie.

This is sooo good! I just made one the other day and it was gone by the next morning!

French Silk Chocolate Pie
1/2 cup butter
3/4 cup sugar
1 t vanilla
2 eggs
1 pkg choco bake (or 1 oz melted chocolate, choco bake is easier)

1. Bake pie crust and set aside to cool
2. Cream butter and sugar together
3. Blend in choco bake
4. Add vanilla
5. Add eggs, one at a time, blending 5 minutes per egg - no less!
6. Pur into cooled pie crust and chill for a few hours.

Could you please post the recipe for your apple pie? Apple and maple are two of my favorites. Somewhere I just got a recipe for a maple pie that is supposed to have a fudgy texture. I better look for it.
