My last two trips to WDW I got horrible swollen feet. I'm only 33 & this has never happened in my life before. I looked like I had pregnant lady feet! My feet are back to normal after my trip but no matter what shoes I wear my feet swell up so bad at WDW. Anyone else? tips on how to have this not happen or because we are on our feet 12 plus hours that is bound to happen??

I have other issues that my feet swell (old age! LOL) but it happens, try to cut back on salt, try to sleep with your feet elevated with a pillow. Soak them every night in epsoms salt. I find cold then hot soakings seem to help. I have water pills but then you are constantly running to the bathroom, so I don't even take them on vacation. Bring two pairs of shoes and switch them daily. I am dreading this vacation with my feet. I just got over two bouts of cancer and I am having difficulty walking as it is. But the older you get the harder is gets. At your age I would say probably just eating too much salt. I know it is almost impossible not to do that at the parks. Drink lots of water too.

When we drive to WDW, I have problems with swelling. Then for a couple days while we are there they swell some. But by the end of the week, it's better, only to restart on the trip home. I bring 1 ice pack, and use it on my feet if needed. I have a middle toe that gets really inflamed with a tremendous amount of walking, so the ice pack is really for that, but I have used it on my ankles before. Make sure you are wearing supportive shoes, ie tennis, ect. and put your feet up at night.

This is something to discuss with your doctor, if you have not done so already.

While at WDW drink water, not soft drinks, and try to eat healthy, avoiding salty foods. Try to alternature periods of standing and walking with periods of sitting, with feet elevated whenever possible.

While swollen feet and ankles can be a symptom of other health problems, if it only occurs at WDW, then it is probably just a result of the heat and the amount of time spent on your feet every day. I know that my ankles swell when we're in the parks, but only when it's hot. Never had it happen when we're there in the winter. :confused3

As PPs have mentioned, try to keep yourself well hydrated. Put those feet up whenever you can. I find that hitting the resort pool when we get back really helps, as does putting my feet up on a couple of pillows when we get to the room. If you can tolerate ibuprofen, try taking one a couple of times a day. And if you have a truly wonderful DH like I do- ask for a foot rub with peppermint foot lotion.:cloud9:

Yes, as PPs have said - water, water, water, water.

Like, constantly. Take what you'd normally drink in a day, convert everything to water, and then double or triple it. Don't wait until you feel thirsty.

Bonus side effect: you'll get to experience almost all of the variously themed restrooms in WDW! Luckily you won't need ADRs, even for the most popular ones. ;)

Assuming no other underlying health issues, the heat (sweating), constant muscle use (walking/standing), and other such things contribute to your body stacking up water - swelling.

I know that my ankles swell when we're in the parks, but only when it's hot. Never had it happen when we're there in the winter.

Same with me. We took our last trip when it was HOT (in May), and not only did my feet/ankles swell, I got the dreaded heat rash on the bottoms of both legs. Ugh!!

I had the swollen feet issue and I found that water and Powerade helped alot.
I drink alot of water normally, but don't think I was drinking enough while walking around the parks. For me, lots of water prevents the swelling and Powerade (or Gatorade) really helped once the swelling had occured.

Water, proper shoes, epsom salts in the bathtub at night, water, more water, and water.

And, for me, losing weight. I've lost nearly 50 lbs since our previous BIG themepark trip, and the swelling was a lot better on our recent 8 days at Disneyland trip.

Swelling and foot/leg pain after the last big trip is actually what prompted me to rejoin Weight Watchers. It was that or give up on the trips, as I was MISERABLE!

But that's me; you might not have the weight problem that I did/still do (not at goal yet). Just saying what worked for me!

Also Before I know I'm going to Disney --- I try to beef up my walking ( Everyday) do Knee Bends & stretching ..... It doesn't hurt to get in Semi - Shape -- I'm 62 yrs & I feel it everyday also ------ Also Water Water --- no Soda's ;)

yep. my problem was more persistent than "just on vacation" tho. it happened anytime i was on my feet for more than a few hours. a sonogram showed that some of the valves in a vein in each leg had collapsed. 1 out patient surgery later and i was right as rain.

On my trip a month ago it wasn't until my 3rd night that my feet swelled to the point of me noticing. I had sneakers on and my feet were just aching..to the point where I was thinking I'd have to leave the park. I'd been carrying teva mush flipflops with me thinking if it rained I'd switch out. My ankles had been bothering me and I figured sneakers were the better bet. Well it was getting so bad I figured it was worth a shot to try the flip flops. Normally they were just a bit loose on me, that day I could JUST shove my foot into them. I ended up wobbling into Universe of Energy and since I had the whole row to myself, I took the flip flops off and gave myself a nice 37 minute long foot massage through the whole ride. I kept my feet up on the bench and it worked wonders. My feet were still suuuuper sore but at least this point I could walk on them without wanting to cry.
