Would this bother anyone else?

The little girl who lives next door is playing outside in the front yard in her underwear and her underwear ONLY. We live in a pretty busy neighborhood(our houses are duplexes as a matter of fact).

I mean...I get it if you there aren't a lot of people around your house...or it's in your backyard with a privacy fence...but the front yard?:confused3

She's 4 BTW...

Do her parents know she is outside alone?

Do you live on post?

Yes...her parents are outside with her.

And yes...I also live on post

I have found that people tend to feel "safer" when they live on post so they probably let their guard down a little. Also I would wonder if one of the parents is from Europe. That seems to be the norm in that part of the world for little girls' swimsuits and such (just the bottoms) so it may just be a cultural difference.

(Small world - DH was talking today about wanting to go back to Ft Hood.)

Eh. I don't know that I would give it a second thought other than the fact that there is a sex offender on my street. That would be the only reason I'd be concerned, if any.

Then again, I'm not a parent, so my mind could be wired differently.

Nope...they're from Washington. And I don't live inside the gates. If you're familiar with Ft. Hood...they have post housing technically "off post". I mean, we still have a guard shack and stuff.

And :scared1:...WHY would you want to come BACK here???

I like the girl...and I like her parents as well...I just wonder WHY that is appropriate. It wasn't for like, a few minutes either...they've been out here like ALL DAY.

I don't know why it bothers me.

I'm giggling.

This reminds me of a picture my parents have of me at some theme park back when I was probably about 4.

Apparently it was hot out, because there I am sitting with no shirt on at all and corduroy pants (the seventies...)!!:rotfl:

My mom said everyone thought I was a boy anyways with my bowl haircut, so who cares!:lmao:

Then I have no idea why they would think that it was ok to have her outside like that but as long as the parents are out there with her she should be fine.

(I asked DH the same thing about going there - WHY? :rolleyes1) Oh, well. Enjoy your time there. Could be worse!

My dad was a single father and I remeber sitting around the house with him until I was like 6 with no shirt on. Hey...HE did it! LOL...When he started dating my stepmother, she had to help us figure out what was appropriate for little girls to do and not do;)

It would bug me, it's not something I was ever comfortable with DD doing regardless of where I might live or who was present. It's a lesson in appropriate dressing IMO, girls need to have a top and bottom on, we are not in Europe and panties do not count as lounge/swim wear, at least not in my house.

It would bug my too, I have a friend who's dh would wander the house naked even after the girls got to be 6-7 years old. I always thought that was unacceptable. When her 10 year old started walking around the house naked with the curtain wide open, I told her it was time to do something about the nudist colony thing. lol The last thing a kid needs is another kid spying them thru an open window in their birthday suit!

At 4 I don't see a huge deal, if she was out there naked then I would have a problem,

It wouldn't bother me. I grew up pretty much half naked and I turned out fine. :confused3

My sisters and I used to play outside without shirts until we were about 4. We lived in Texas without air conditioning and it was pretty hot in the summer so it was a comfort issue. I remember thinking it wasn't fair I had to put a shirt on shortly after I turned 4. Heck, I could have gone shirtless til I was 14 or 15 and no one would have noticed anyway.:rotfl:

I am a parent (4 year old dd and 9 year old ds,) and while I wouldn't let my 4 year old do it, I really wouldn't care if some other 4 year old did. I also agree that ppl. that live on post tend to feel "safer" and put their guard down a little.

See...I just don't get this. Actually, I have met more "unsavory" people since I've been a military spouse and moved on post.

IDK...maybe I'm just extra grouchy lately.
