Feeling Stupid

Looked on ebay under "Disney pin lots" and thought I got a great deal on 100 pins. But I'm feeling real stupid now. They're pins -- AS IN BROOCH PINS! How do you know the difference from a picture? Can you trade them?

We've all been there! It's one of the hazards of being new to any hobby. :(

I'm not sure exactly what kind of pins you bid on, but if you send the auction number we can take a look.

Yes, I recall long ago doing the same. I bid too hastily (at the end of the auction) and too much. They were listed as pins, but CLOSER look at the picture I saw they were BADGES. It was a very fine line on how legit the auction was listed.
Wonder if it was the same seller.
This was the only time I backed out of an auction. I e-mailed the seller, who was not too happy with me. Upfront I offered to pay their Ebay fees. That is how it ended wth me.
Live and learn experience. But I pointed out to the seller these were not pins. That didn't keep them from listing them as pins, rather than cardboard badges.

Denman, the pins in that auction are jewelry-type brooches and wouldn't be tradable with CMs at WDW. At least these are listed under "jewelry". If it was listed under "collectibles/disneyana/pins" that would be very misleading.

My advice: When you do a search on eBay, narrow down your search options with the matching cagetories that appear on the left side. That should cut out some of the matches you don't want like this.

I have seen these pins on WDW CM lanyards. Now I know why. ;)
I have even once traded for a Pooh pin for a Pooh fan -- only to find out later it was an pierced earring. I see one of the little fellows in another auction of this sellers.

Never even looked up at the category. I just typed in "disney pin lot" and looked at the results. Live and learn. Anyone need any pins?

Many of these pins are in Pinpics and are desirable to pintraders, even though not tradable to CMs.

I have had a few of these now and then, and I was always able to trade them.

Perhaps our resident Pooh expert -- Barbara MdStrwbery -- could look at what you got, and give you some more info as to tradability. :earsgirl:

I too have almost brought "untradable" to CM pins, I have found a good guide is to look at the number of bids to give me a clue. I have found that more experienced collectors will stay away from badges, jewlery pins, and poss. counterfit/iffy pins. I also like to check with pinpics.com if time allows. :smooth:

Hey Denman!
If there happens to be any in there that are Pluto
or Eeyore I'd trade you actual CM tradable Disney
pins for them... PM or Email me!
Just an offer to help you get some tradable pins
out of this...
:wave2:
