Feeling sick? Any guesses as to the cause?

I have been having problems off and on for a few months.........experienced some similar things a few years ago that eventually went away on their own.

First day at Disneyworld last month, I started having stomach pains about an hour after dinner. And I was soon sick as a dog with diarrhea (sorry, I know its gross). I took the maximum dosage of Immodium and didn't have any more loose stools, but my stomach did hurt off and on over the next few days where I was afraid I might get sick again.............funny that I had stomach problems on my South Dakota trip earlier in the summer, too..........I might just chalk it up to traveling, but I've been sick since I've been home, too.

The other day about an hour after I was awake, my lower back started hurting on my left side, and then I had a loose bowel movement. Today, I have had the same thing happening. I took a couple of Immodium and I have not had to go to the bathroom anymore, but my lower back still hurts on my left side. I had Schlotsky's for dinner last night and the sandwich literally had grease dripping off it- it was kinda gross so I didn't finish the WHOLE thing, just most of it. :rotfl2:

My back has routinely been hurting during the night lately and I've had to get up to go urinate which isn't like me. Also on Friday at work, I had to urinate a couple of times during the day, when I usually don't have to go at work at all during the day (which I know is bad to go that long without peeing.)

I've asked my dad if he has had some of these symptoms since he's had kidney stones and his gallbladder removed, and he said that he doesn't know why my back would hurt with diarrhea and gas problems.......of course, being male, he is wired differently. My mom has already told me I shouldn't take so much Immodium, but I will do anything to try to stop these stomach problems.

Any ideas?

My first thought was gallbladder. Did you eat anything particularly fatty before these attacks? Pork was the killer food when I was having issues.

Maybe colitis? Irritable Bowel Syndrome? Lactose intolerance? I'd visit a doctor for the real answer.

Could be a bladder infection which will cause more frequent urination and can cause back pain if the kidneys are affected. The stomach problems and diarrhea sound like gallbladder problems.

The sandwich at Schlotsky's was evidently WAY greasy! The day I got sick at WDW, I'd had toast and jelly, coffee, and juice for breakfast at our hotel on our drive down. We skipped lunch, but I had my first creme brulee late that afternoon. Dinner was nachos at Cantina de San Angel. I often don't feel good on Saturday mornings and our regular Friday night dinner is pepperoni pizza......hmmm....sandwich at Schlotsky's had pork an pepperoni is pork........

I know. I'm just afraid a real doctor will want to run real tests, LOL. I have this fear of anesthesia..........

I have wondered if they're separate issues or if its all related?!?! It sounds like I may need to make an appointment- UGH

Creme Brulle, Nachos and pizza I'd stay away from dairy for a few days see if that makes a difference.

The foods you mention all seem to have a high fat count. Why don't you try cutting out fat from your diet and see if you feel better? Process of elimination.... I know there are certain types of food that don't agree with me. Sometimes I can eat/drink a little of it (don't have to completely eliminate it from my diet) and be OK, but some things I just avoid altogether.

one of my dd's has a long history of undiagnosed stomach and bathroom problems. she was tested for all kinds of stuff in her poo, everything negative. long story short.....

i picked up some "Align" for her and it has been like a miracle. BUT, she had many causes ruled out so I have no problem with her taking it.

your doc will probably have you submit some stool for culture, among other things.

any fever? antibiotic use? well, it doesn't matter I guess...you should see a doc. :cutie:

Sounds like maybe gall bladder. I had mine out last December. For about a year and a half leading up to having it out I had occasional bouts of upset stomach and the other stuff. :) It got to be constant whenever I ate, which led me to the doctor. They did lots of tests and a HIDA scan showed that my gall bladder was barely working, and by the time they took it out a couple weeks later it had quit and was infected. I did not have gall stones, so nothing showed on my ultrasound and all my bloodwork came back normal.

Nurse to be here and gallbladder less girl :rotfl2:; go to doctor and ask for upper GI and or ultrasound.

It could be anything. What you don't know could do serious harm.

See a doctor yesterday.

First thought: gall bladder
Second thought: kidney stones
Third thought: see a doctor. Sorry...:flower3:

Stop messing around and call a Dr TOMORROW. Then report back so we KNOW you made the appointment. Just looking out for you!

Same here. I still have my gallbladder but I definitely have my trigger foods. Those you mentioned may be yours. You really do need to find out - what you don't know could hurt you. Doctors are our friends. :thumbsup2

All right...I'm awaiting your update about when your appointment will be....keep us posted!!!

OP - have you called a Dr??? How are you feeling?
