Feeling really HORRIBLE right now -- I think it is BC Pill related [again] - HELP!

A couple months ago I began having anxiety feelings so my obgyn switched my pills to one lower in estrogen. It did seem to help my anxiety feelings alot --- in fact they've gone away BUT I feel AWFUL otherwise! I am retaining water horribly [currently on low ovral - generic equivilant] and I just am generally feeling really lousy right now. HELP!

Has anyone found that a particular BC pill actually helped with the voiding of fluids rather than retaining them? My weight loss has stalled since taking these new pills.

It is so depressing to me right now. Especially reading about all those who have 'splurged' on their holiday weekends. I have really stayed to plan almost 100%. [expect for 1 1/2 drinks over the weekend]. And when I did have some strays --- it was planned very carefully -- and sometimes [like last wk] I had a higher carb meal just to try and jumpstart my losing again ---- HECK, I didn't even really enjoy it. I only ate it hoping to jump start my body again.

Yesterday I resorted to milk of magnesia [for constipation] and I actually WENT ----- plus I resorted to taking an otc water pill for fluid retention. I thought --- OH BOY -- I'll be on my way now! Only to wake up and be 215 ---- I haven't seen 215 for quite a long time now! And get this ---- 1/2 an hour later [I hadn't even eaten anything] I thought I would check again --- and it was 217!

I am in tears ---- this can't be! It is taking all I have not to say the hell with this and go eat some cookies!

I'll call my obgyn today and see if she can change my bc pills [once again!]. I am not on them for birth control -- it is to control a large fibroid uterine tumor which I have.

UGH

I'm so sorry! That is so frustrating. I was never able to take any BC pills - made me crazy, but you don't have a choice. I hit the other end of things just about the time when HRT became dangerous - I guess hormones aren't for me.

Seriously, I'm wishing lots of PD and patience upon you today.

Jody, I'm so sorry. Sending {{hugs}} I wish I had an answer for you. All I know is that I stopped my BC pill because I believe that it contributed to my weight gain & made me soooooo moody  I just moved, so I have to seek out a new ob/gyn & hopefully we can discuss my best option.

Let me know what happens. Don't give up, it's just a little setback. Hang in there.

First {{{HUGS}}}:(

I wish I could just say something or impart some words of wisdom and make it all better - All I know is that you need to keep the faith - Talk to your OB/GYN and hopefully after they change the script - in time - you will begin to lose the weight again. I know its frustrating - but lots of things effect our weight - the weather(humidity), the time of month, how much water we drank, last time we went to the bathroom, were the scale is on the floor, the clothing(if any) we have on pick one or all of the above. But......

you did the right thing you posted here and this is the place for support! - Just the Good Thoughts that are going to be coming your way will get you happy ....Look up - I beleive thats Pixie Dust falling all over you!;)

Okay now I am getting silly -Sorry - JUST KEEP AT IT AND OVER TIME WEIGHT WILL COME OFF!

Oh I forgot the most important reason people who are eating well and exercise may at time gain weight - MUSCLE IS HEAVIER THAN FAT!

:) :D

{{{{ Hugs }}}}

Is there any other alternative than BC pills? I've never been on them (infertility followed by 3 quick kids  then a VASECTOMY!!!!)... so I don't know anything about them.

Keep trying different things... something has to settle soon for you.

hugs,
Karen

I haven't had the problems that you are going through. I am so sorry that you are having such a hard time. Please make that phone call to your doctor as soon as possible. You know that a 2# gain in that amount of time is not a true gain. Hopefully they will be able to find some other medicine that will not bother you this way. You are in my thoughts today. Sending PD your way.

Update -

I talked to my obgyn's nurse. She seems to think that the doc will want to try 'Yasmin'. She is going to call me back later this afternoon after she sees if the doc will okay this for me.

All birth control pills contain synthetic hormones that imitate the hormones a woman naturally produces. Today, there are over 40 brands of birth control pills that are variations of each other because they all contain the same kind of hormones. YASMIN is different. It contains a different kind of progestin (hormone) which may work with your body chemistry by affecting the excess sodium and water in your body while also maintaining, and in some cases increasing, your potassium. That’s the difference a little chemistry can make, which means YASMIN could be a pill you’ll end up feeling good about

Thanks for sharing the information you found out about this other pill. I am hoping that this will work for you. Sending additional PD for the rest of the day to you.:D

I am glad to hear your doctor is open to changing your pills and I hope that is the answer. I take lo ovral too, but I haven't had any problem with water retention. I do however skip the reminder pills because they are sugar pills (not sure if they contain sodium), but I just toss them out....don't know if it makes a difference, but it is what works for me.

{{{HUGS}}} Hang in there Jody!

I've had many challenges with pills also, used to help control my hormones due to PCOS. I've had the best luck ever with Tri-Phasal or its generic Tri-Levalin. No migraines, little water retention... I also throw away the reminder pills, down my drain since I have small kids in the house. It helps me remember but I don't figure I need them - they have no real value, no vitamins or minerals... Hope you find one that works for you!

Jody,

I know this is a big challenge for you, but don't let all this get you down. You've been doing great, and we all know it. This silly water retention and small weight gain isn't a result of your efforts. You're doing great and we're all really proud of you.

Keep up the good work and if you want to talk pm me.

Lots of {{{{{HUGS}}}}

Jody- I can't really help you with your pill problem either- I just wanted you to know I'm thinking about you and hope that things get better for you!

Just another post to give you more support (the more the better). You must be so frustrated!! But I'm proud of you because you're being strong and trying to figure this thing out. If it were me, I'd have eaten the cookies. I'm glad you are so much smarter than I am.:p

Jody-- {{{{HUGS}}} I don't have any wisdom to impart, but I want you to know I'm thinking of you and sending PD your way. The new pills sound like they may do the trick for you. It really sounds like water rentention is your problem. I'll bet that when that clears up you will show a big loss all at once!

Hang in there!!!!

Hang in there! I have the same condition but pills are not recommended for me (I'm over 35). Make sure you get in to see your doctor too. She might want to check on things.

Best wishes and nothing but happy thoughts coming your way.

Take care.

I don't know much about BC pills except that when I did take them many years ago they made my BP go up, so I've been off them since then. I'm glad to hear that you are working with your DR, hopefully you will be able to find something that is right for you. I'm sending some {{{{{HUGS}}}}} & PD your way.

{{{{{hugs}}}}}...Sorry for your stress Jodi.....wish I could help.

You are in my thoughts and let us know what happens. Iwill be thinking about you.

Tracy

Jody- how did your talk with the Dr. go??? Hope it went well.

Jody,
I dont post here much just read. But I had to post a reply to you. I know how you are feeling. I started having anxiety attacts first one Jan 3,2002. That is a day I will never forget due to it sent me to the hospital. I really thought I was dieing. From Jan to May the put me on 9 differant meds to try and get the anxiety under control. I told them from the beginning that I was not having anxiety. I also had all the heart & thyroid test run all normal thank goodness. My hormone test came back in normal range but only your body know the normal range not some test. Anyways in May I found the most wonderful Gyn and on May 6,2002 I had a total hysterectomy I have had 0 anxiety attacts. I have had my ups & downs trying to get my hormones balanced but I think I there. You dr is right about the estrogen making you retain water. I am not saying that you need a hysterectomy but maybe your dr should ck your hormone levels. Tell him you would like a serum ck not just your run of the mill bood test. The serum test cks the amount of hormones in you blood stream not what is stored in your body. I am sorry this is such a long post but I wanted you to know that someone eles has been were you are right now. You can email me or pm me if you need to talk. I am praying for you cause I know how long the days can get when you are having anxiety. Oh one more thing.....You may want to ask your dr about compounded progesterone. It is closer to what you body makes.

Here is a web page that you should ck out it is not only for us that have had hysterectomies. These ladies know alot more than I do. They have sure helped me.

Take care.
