Cruising December 1st and though I've VERY excited, I'm also feeling a bit nervous. Maybe it's because it's my first cruise? Or because I'm going without my husband and taking our two children? Anyone ever feel this way?

I actually remember feeling this way right before I had my second child. He was 9 days late and I wanted him to 'bake' longer! I was nesting BAD, and I think I thought if he baked longer I could get more done. It sorta makes sense that maybe I feel this way because we leave the day after Thanksgiving, then come back to Christmas just 3 weeks away. The holidays are rushed enough, and now I feel added pressure when in reality, a cruise is really probably the best break anyway could ask for. Wind down from one holiday while gearing up for the next with a nice cruise in the middle.

Is the cruise more relaxing than a trip to DW, because I always returned home from DW feeling like I needed a vacation to unwind from my vacation!

There is a bit of stress that is normal before a cruise (although it usually doesn't hit most folks that hard until the last week.) It's worth it, though. Yes, the cruise is quite relaxing. You'll get off the ship on Thursday and be disappointed that it's over.

Ok you guys can add me to the weird group if you havent already done so - lol

I was thinking this just the other day. We leave on Thanksgiving, not sure who Im cruising with and then return home to Christmas!
Trying to get some of the shopping, wrapping, etc done before we leave in 18days.
Then there is the budget which isnt easy w/both a cruise and Christmas. All the extra costs of the cruise are "paid/budgeted" already.

I did it last year (got off the ship same date Im getting off this year), I know I'll be doing it again. I think the holidays are a great time to cruise!

I agree with you! You'll feel better when you hear my story though. I'm traveling with you on December 1 also. But, I'm also considering a change of job! I have an interview tomorrow. It should be interesting to mention to a new employer that I leave for a ten day trip on Thanksgiving Day! Not to mention if I quit, I'll most likely do it as soon as I return from my vacation. AHHHH, Calgon take me away.....

I sure can use a vacation!

YES! The cruise is more relaxing than WDW.

Relax and have fun.

Hi Tammy! It IS hard to cruise this time of year, as much as it wonderful! We cruise in December and it's always a mad rush to get ready for the holidays. Even with the added stress it is SO worth it to be on the ship! :) Do take the time to relax and enjoy while you're on the ship. Your kids will have a GREAT time and you will too.

And yes, it is definitely more relaxing to be on the ship than it is to be at WDW. :)

It really is reassuring to know that my feelings are not at all unusual am I certainly am looking forward to relaxing!

I'm nervous too, this being my first Disney Cruise! I have been planning this since the beginning of the year, and now it's finally almost here! I agree that it will be cool getting off the ship with Christmas coming. I won't get to spend Thanksgiving with my family because my parents are going on a Thanksgiving cruise, but we're hoping to cross paths at the port (they come back on Dec. 1, we leave on Dec. 1)!:Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc :Pinkbounc

I'm wondering if there just aren't more nerves period related to traveling with the present state of the world. Although we are not traveling until June I mentioned to DH last night that I occasionally have fleeting thoughts about whether or not we should make this trip. Never happened before

Nothing that has been earth shattering just little momentary I wonders.

But I always come back to YES this is the thing to do.

So maybe it is the state of the world, getting older, looking at kids getting closer and closer to college, too much stress at work, or a combination of all of the above. Or we're all just weird as someone else said and should enjoy our weirdness together! :bounce: :Pinkbounc
