Feeling Hot Hot Hot! The Rain Curse is Broken! Two Weeks of Fun in the Sun! COMPLETE

We moved on down the street towards Beauty and the Beast but we were stopped by these funny fellows. They were practicing for their dates that night at the carnival. What slackers, goofing around like that on the job, what a disgrace!

hmmmm, for some reason I can't seem to paste the pics..anyways,

OMG, on our trip last year we watched those guys measure the street. Yup, that's all they were doing, measuring the street. They were HILARIOUS!!! :rotfl:

That peanut butter chocolate cupcake is my absolute favorite!!!! Sorry that mean lady  ruined it, we had no problem getting a container to take what we didn't eat home.

Beauty and the Beast is my fav show, happy you got to see it, too bad about Belle.

Lessa, love your photos of Beauty & The Beast. We've missed i the last couple of years and I want to be sure to see it this year.

Your cupcake looks absolutely yummy. :worship:

I love your trip report. :)
I am going to recommend it to my friend to read. It's hilarious w/ the guys.

So strange, I wonder why they didn't have any cupcake sized ones when I was there.

I love Beauty and the Beast although it would be fun to have something new, so long as it was just as good! I heard that the Aladdin show out at Disneyland was good, they should bring that to WDW!

Thanks! :goodvibes

Loved the pole dancing and the playground pictures. We love the Beauty and the Beast show. I don't think Belle is an understudy though, we saw her in December and again when we were there in May :(. We had the same thoughts as you did about her singing, etc.

The streetmosphere people are awesome, you have a picture of Paige Turner, we just adore her, she is the one in the blue pantsuit. I can't wait to read more!!

I always forget about Starring Rolls, Bill wants the cupcake you had :rotfl:.

Sorry you had a sub-par Belle! The singing is what makes the show!

Thumbs up for Starring Roles cupcakes! I had the butterfinger one when I was there, and it was super yummy! That chocolate peanut butter one looked delish too! I'll have to give it a whirl next time.

That is surprising that they would have an actress cast as Belle who sings poorly on a frequent basis. :sad2:

Definitely give it a try although I suggest sharing, it is very rich!

I am definately gonna try the Butterfinger Cupcake either in August or October or maybe both!!!:rotfl2:

:thumbsup2 You should get the Butterfinger on one trip and then try one of the others on the second trip.

May 12th continued

After forcing myself to eat as much of the cupcake as possible it was time to continue on with our plans: see Little Mermaid and visit the Animation Academy.

We encountered a bit of congestion on the way, turns out the parade was just about to start. We had not planned on watching the parade but figured we would since we were there and there were some spots available. We hadn't seen this "new" parade before but I knew that it was Pixar themed just like the previous Block Party parade. Erich and I pulled out our cameras and took a bazillion parade photos but don't worry, I will only post a few.

I think it is kinda funny how Lotso is featured in the parks as a cute cuddly bear but in the movie he was an awful evil tyrant! :confused3

After the parade we once again set our course for the animation courtyard.

I spotted a photopass photographer in a place I had never seen one before so of course we had to stop for a picture. ;)

The line for The Little Mermaid was out of control so we skipped it and made our way over to the "secret" entrance to the animation building aka the exit. It felt wonderful stepping into the gift shop especially when that wall of cold air smacked us in the face, so refreshing!

There was a 30 minute wait for the animation class but we didn't care, we just grabbed seats in the waiting area and relaxed, it was so nice to sit and relax in the cool room on those comfy benches. They have a screen that lets you play the game "guess that character". They slowly bring the whole sketch into focus and you guess who it is. We all had fun with that and caused some people around us to giggle when Alek and Erich made some outrageous guesses.

Once they let us in we grabbed some seats toward the back of the room on the end. There were some idiots in the animation class who had to move seats to allow more people in, well they took the paper and pencil that were at the seat with them to the new seat so then the person who sat at their old desk didn't have any supplies, that took a few minutes to get straightened out.

We drew Sorcerer Mickey, a nice change from regular Mickey who I always seem to end up getting. Mom and I had done this class before but Alek and Erich had never been, how would they do?

My awful Mickey

Erich's drawing, not sure if he is meant to me a gnome or a dwarf or what?

I always enjoy the class even if I am not the best artist out there, I do better in the class than I do on my own. ;)

Next we went down to the "Which character are you?" game.

You can see that Mom was having tons of fun while we goofed around...

After that we decided that it was time to head back to the hotel for a swim. The heat was pretty oppressive by that time and Mom was in a lot of pain (a side effect of her MS).

We collapsed on the beds when we got back to the room and didn't feel like moving for awhile but we eventually got our suits on and headed down to the pool. We had gone to the main pool at The Dig Site the day before so we decided to check out the Casitas Quiet Pool this time around.

The pool area was fairly empty, only a few people around. We just floated around and played games. I tried doing an underwater somersault which was a bad idea, I felt so dizzy and nauseous after, a sign of my age, I used to be able to do those no problem when I was a teen. I got out of the pool soon after that as I just did not feel good. The feeling passed shortly so at least it was not long lasting unlike when I go on the tea cups, they can make me sick for hours!

Alek and Erich thought it would be a brilliant idea to try and pull themselves out of the pool with their legs. Idiots! :headache: Basically what they did was that they "laid" in the water with their legs up and hanging out of the pool on the pavement, they then attempted to pull themselves out with just their legs. Well, it was not a surprise when Erich cried out in pain and dropped himself back into the water. Surprise, surprise, he had hurt his leg, he could barely move his calf, I thought all of the worst things. I just knew we were going to end up taking him to the hospital and end up with a huge bill because of course he had opted not to buy the travel medical insurance. Erich didn't move for a few minutes and then he dragged himself out of the pool the NORMAL way, he could still barely move his leg. He said it got better after a few minutes of sitting in a lounge chair and so we made our way back to the room, Erich hobbling along.

I think that your family photo in front of the archway is lovely! How nice to find a Photopass guys right there!

I've never done the animation academy, but it does look like fun. I'm not much of an artist, but maybe when Everett gets bigger he'll be interested.

I hope that Erich wasn't badly hurt! It would be just terrible if he had to go to the hospital. Nothing is worse than getting hurt/sick on vacation!

The one time we did Animation Academy we got Donald Duck! I'm like you....I do a whole lot better there than I would do on my own. :)

So what character were YOU most like Ms. Lessa???? :confused3

From the look in that picture I'm thinking Beth was borderline.....Grumpy!!! :rotfl:

Silly boys. :sad2: I hope Erich's leg got better as time went on. Your drawings are great! I love Alek's :rotfl: Little sailboat man. What did you think of that new parade? Is it similar to Block Party Bash?

I never saw the first PP photographer in DHS. But I love your picture! I remember seeing them there in 2010, perhaps they all called in sick the day I went to DHS. :lmao:

Loved the animation pictures you guys drew! Even the Mickey Gnome. :lmao:

Sorry you can't do sommersaults any more. I can't either. DD drove me crazy doing them. Glad the horrible feeling didn't stick around and ruin the rest of your day. Sorry to hear Erich hurt his leg. Hope he recovered quickly!

You should definitely try the Animation Academy, it is a nice relaxing activity and you get a free souvenir out of it!

I was very concerned when he got hurt. I had purchased insurance for myself and Mom was covered by her work benefits. Alek and Erich think they are invincible so opted not to buy the insurance, they are spoiled by living in Canada where a trip to the hospital is free. :sad2:

Your brothers crack me up!!! :rotfl2:

Another Brothers Grimm convert!

I would love to draw Donald! On my own I can barely draw a stick figure, I need the step by step instructions!

I didn't do the character quiz as we wanted to get out of there and I had done it on a previous trip. My results then were

I have multiple personalities. ;)

I thought it was pretty similar to Block Party. They changed the music and it is a regular parade style now instead of the Block Party where they stopped and danced. I would not go out of my way to see it again.

It is sad realizing that I am getting "old". I wonder when I will start acting my age. :rotfl:

The cupcake looked so good! I know I will have a hard time deciding on which to try! Hope the sore leg didn't cause any issues!

Everything at Starring Rolls looked so yummy! If I wasn't such a big chocolate and peanut butter fan the decision would have been really hard!

That second one must be the one you keep hidden around here........ :rolleyes1

(j/k you Lessa!!!)

:snooty: I'll have you know I am very Cinderella like! ;) In fact, just yesterday I put all my blood and tears into cleaning the kitchen and upstairs bathroom since they were getting disgusting and nobody else was volunteering for the job.

I haven't seen Beauty and the Beast since Four for a Dollar left. They were one of my favorite parts of the show. I'm still hoping they bring them back someday.

I love everybody's drawings from Animation Academy, especially the sailboat. That looks like a fun thing to do. It's on my list of things to do as soon as the boys can handle it.

I had decided on the Red Velvet cupcake to try in October, but now your Chocolate Peanut Butter cupcake has me second guessing myself. Maybe I'll bring my own to go box and get both.
