I talked Dh out of Boma. I really didn't want to try it, but we eached picked two TS for our next trip and that was his pick. I love Boma for breakfast, but I am a very picky eater. He has decided he wants to try the new menu at Ohana so we will jut go there instead. I am glad we switched, but I know he was really looking forward to going. :confused3

I wouldn't eat at Boma or Jiko if you paid me!!! I am a very picky (plain) eater and their menu has absolutely nothing I would eat.

Luckily my DH has similar tastes as I do so this isn't a problem. Sorry you feel guilty..but look at it this way. At least he doesn't have to hear you complain about the food that you wouldn't like :flower:

I say give Boma a chance- if not this trip, maybe the next one. You would be making your DH happy, and you never know- you might find some things you really like.

Try it, you might like it!! :wizard:

We weren't sure if we'd like Boma but we loved it, especially DH. In fact, it's now his second favorite. :wizard:

Boma's is MUCH BETTER than Ohana's! Even my picky children love it! There are plenty of foods that are plainer. There is chicken, a fish, ribs, some type of beef, macaroni and cheese, spagetti and meat balls, salads, fruits, desserts galore, several soups although some can be spicy( good spicy), great bread rolls and many many more things. Plus you can go early and tour te resort and see the animals. I was hesitant when I read the menu at first but the food is pretty normal and delicious. There are things like three kinds hummus that you don't need to have if you are afraid to try it but they are great!

One of Disney's BEST. Surprise him and change back the reservation. You will have a very grateful husband :cloud9: :love2: and have a fabulous meal. Ohanas is basically meat on a stick......JMHO

I'm eating at Akershus because it was the one request Dh had for our trip. Now, the princesses makes it more palateable, but I'm planning on needing dessert at the resort that night.

We like Boma much better than O'hana's and I am a picky eater! DH is a very big meat & potato man and he liked Boma better as well. DS wouldn't eat anything at O'hana so he had to get a kid's meal brought over from Kona.

My husband is a meat and potatoes man, my son is a very picky eater, I'm even worse. But friends wanted to try Boma when it first opened so we sucked it up and went. It's now our favorite restaurant. I guess it was proved a winner last year when we took my brother-in-law who has got to be the pickiest eater in the world. He won't even eat a hamburger because it requires too much work (honestly). We rolled him out of Boma.

Just another opinion - but don't feel guilty about not going this trip. There's always the next time.

Thanks for all the opionions. Dh and I love Ohana and usually go there every trip. He really doesn't want to dissapoint me with going to Boma. I have told him several times that we can go to Boma. We will see, we can't make ADRs for a couple weeks yet!

My father did NOT want to go on a cruise.

For my parents 25th anniversary, he booked a cruise for my mother. He packed a suitcase full of paperbacks knowing he would be bored the entire cruise.

They have been on at least two cruises a year for the last 15 years. Needless to say he LOVES cruises.

Try something new. Even if you don't like it, it's just one meal and then you'll KNOW you don't like it.

LOL, thank you whacked :rotfl: So I felt bad and went back and had to "convince" dh that we should go to Boma. I told him at the very least I could have prime rib and potatoes. He said no he really wanted to go to O'Hana (which is partly true). Well, Boma here we come :rotfl2:

I hope you get to Boma's. My picky kids didn't like anything at Ohana's on the old menu and the new one looks less appealing to all of us.

I was ashamed  by the number of trips we all took to food at Boma's. The kids had to try every soup. They didn't like some stuff but they thought it was great getting a spoonful to taste and then deciding. I wish they would be so good at home!

Give it a shot!

The first time through on a buffet, I too take a VERY small amount of things that are either new, or look like they may be interesting.

I then go back for the ones I decide I like.

A buffet is a great way to discover new foods, and if you don't like something, just push it around with your fork for a while and then get rid of the plate. :rotfl2:

Don't feel bad, think of it as an adventure. :teeth:

Agotta -

Since you decided on Boma, here's a few suggestions from the picky eater.

The salad dressings all sound strange. On our first visit, our server suggested combined two of the four. I tried it. Simply delicious. My son, the picky one (just picky, not extremely picky) was so excited to go back to Boma because "they have the best salads".

I really liked the roasted chicken.

Don't forget you can also eat off the "kids" area.

And my number one hint - for every time you go up to the buffet, get a dessert. Why wait until the end of the meal when you are stuffed to enjoy dessert?

I love your suggestion on getting a desert each trip. I always say, eat desert before the meal!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I love that idea!

Thats great that you decided to try Boma. I'm sure your DH is secretly touched that your doing this for him. I agree with everyone try a little of everything ,you may be surprized. The soups are incredible and the desserts are justly raved about. Enjoy!!

I would go to Boma just for the desserts! Wow, they are good.

I'm not a picky eater, but I'm not adventurous and don't go too far off the usual foods I like. After reading about Boma on the boards we tried it in March and ended up going back two nights later! The prime rib is very good, as is the roasted chicken. I always have some mac and cheese - can't help it. The roasted potatoes were good and I made a good salad.

But seriously, save room for dessert!
