feeling disappointed

my dh didn't get the job he interviewed for on Friday. we waited all weekend feeling kind of excited. he felt like he did great on the interview and he even knew one of the guys who was interviewing him from Lucent ( he had given him a bonus because he liked his work) no phone call yesterday but we were still hoping. Then today the phone rings around 3:30 and its the head hunter!! so we got really excited, but he said "unfortunately they passed on you."

Dh has only been looking for work since mid March but it just seems so hopeless right now. I wonder what went wrong in the interview. they had him there for 2 hours and he felt so confidant.(he went on one a few weeks ago and said he knew it didn't go well)

equal qualifications.......it is hard when others are so close to your resume too........but to be this close is a good thing......tell your husband to keep on looking ....one of these jobs will be just the one he is looking for

I have no experience with a head hunter, but is there a way for them to find out the reason your DH didn't get the job? Maybe something he could say or do differently in the next interview?

Its hard. Jobs are hard to get right now. But just role with the punchs and hope everynight before you sleep that if you can make it through the night there is a brighter day.

I know this might be hard to hear, but it's great that he even got an interview at all. I've also been looking since February (not too aggressively, but still) and of all of my collegues, I'm the only one who as actually been called in for any interview.

I did a lot of hiring in my previous job. And I can tell you that for every position opened a company might receive 100 resumes or more. Once I received about 75 in a single day. And these weren't slouches - I saw MANY MANY highly qualified candidates for every position. So the competition out there is fierce. Your DH probably did incredible on the interview, but there were others who did just as well.

So try to keep your chin up. I know it's hard, but someting WILL come along. And I'll throw in a little pixie dust to help things along.
