feeling defeated

Hello Friends,

Today was a hard day. DD got another gripper put in to access her port as she is having a CT scan tomorrow with dye. The homeware nurse is not sure if she accessed it correctly as she can't get blood return. So we shall see tomorrow, I just hep blocked it again no return. Tomorrow we will see what the CT scan crew will tell us. The nurse changed the dressing on her wound, she has not been here for a while so she saw some positive changes! Its like we are 4 steps ahead and 3 back We have decided to take a road trip this weekend to Maine! Its our anniversary so what better way to celebrate than to be together! My 2 other kids are going with us, their partners do bot want to come. At the the risk of sounding selfish.. it will amazing to be the family of 5 again! I know DD #2 will love having her siblings to herself!
No updates on DH scope results, he has a CT on the 25 of this month. If I think too much their illnesses consume me ..

@weswife, somewhere along the way, my notifications on this thread (and several others) stopped coming to me. And, the old saying, out of sight, out of mind. I thought on you and your daughter and your cruise last night. Thankfully!

I spent about 30 minutes abd brought myself up to date. Wow, so much has happened since I last visited with you. Your cruise sounded wonderful! And what a cabin. I thought I was looking at Bay Lake room until a later post where you said it was your cabin. And your veranda! Looks like it was the public walk area around the ship. Goodness!

The pictures of your daughter are precious. Seeing the joy in her face, in her eyes. Amazing!

And then your husband. Oh my, so much going on. Good to hear he is coming along, doing better.

Hello Friends,
We made a trip to Maine from Nova Scotia last weekend. We enjoyed ourselves, as a family it was wonderful making memories together. On Saturday evening I noticed a bruise on my daughter’s side. I thought that’s odd but ok. That night before bed I noticed it was a bit bigger. Sunday morning I noticed the bruise had tripled in size. We had a family discussion and decided it would be best for us to head home, a day early but for the best. I think my family was all shopped out anyway! Hahaha .. We drove home and all went well. Monday morning the bruise was bigger again!! I started to panic.. I called her doctor and he would not be in until late afternoon and had no appointments until 3 weeks. I explained my concerns and was placed on a call back. I called her oncologist as this bruise is in the same area as her tumour. Yes my mind had some dark thoughts. We took her to emergency. They examined her and ordered bloodwork. The bloodwork showed her blood had stopped clotting and her hemoglobin was very low. She needed a blood transfusion asap! They immediately CT her belly to find what we thought was a bruise was actually a hematoma in the abdominal wall. For some odd reason a blood vessel ruptured and caused a bleed. So what we saw as a bruise was actually blood rising to the surface. Thankfully it was not the tumour bleeding!!!! Anyway she was admitted to hospital. She received a blood transfusion and a dose of IV antibiotics. She received 2 more blood transfusions and 3 IV iron infusions! Today is Saturday and her vitals are better and her hemoglobin is staying at 100. It was down to 70 as a reference. The bleeding appears to have stopped and meds given to help the blood clot are working! The hospital rushed the blood samples to a hospital in the city about 2-1/2 hours away! At one point they were considering air lifting her to the city! What an upside down situation. Our family doctor wants the oncologist to see her but he is away until Aug 8. It will be a waiting game until then .. my mind is all over the place but the upside is her body is responding to the treatment. Then brusing is settling down but still very purple and large. Hopefully we can take her home Monday if she remains stable. So it’s been a stressful week .. but we are still hanging in Thanks for all the love and support!

Oh boy. Sighing for you. I do realize the intense stress these decisions produce. I am so sorry, but wonderful to hear that she had immediate care. Seventy is so low, that's seven for those Americans on this thread. Normal.starts at 120 here. My goodness. As always, please take as good care of yourself as you can weswife.
