Feeling constrained with FP?

I just got AP and was at DHS on Saturday and had a some FPs , I got there at rope drop and did toy story but felt constrained with - oh I want to go see this but it is close to my FP location so I will wait to do it until I'm over there. or did one FP and couldn't use second FP in same general area for another hour so I kinda wasted time eating and looking in stores until I could go use it.

I may not be explaining it well but I felt like I would have done better just winging it, but then lines would be really long. I just feel like I don't know how to utilize FP or is this just a limitation to it. I tried to make out a schedule but it kinda fell through once I got there.

Any thoughts or ideas?

When you find you may need to wander, go on your app and see if you can Modify an existing FP to a better time for you. The system allows you to move up the time of a FP if there is availability.

You can start your day with 1 FP and then add on others when you're in the park. You don't have to have all 3 initial FPs booked before you enter a park. You can complete your initial 3 when in the park.

Hi OP, I feel your pain. Its the reason we stopped visiting WDW. Ride reservations made me feel like I was at work rather than on vacation. The good news for you is FP+may not be needed. By some accounts, the parks are pretty empty.

Some blame the low attendance on the economy, the weather, zika, and gun violence. But I wonder how many people have just quit visiting WDW due to the over planning?

OP I hear ur angst and I get it. It Can feel like a "job" trying to get ur Fp's lined up, then trying to re ck for better times, look in same area, coordinate it all, re-ck and/wait around and all the while trying to Enjoy the parks and be RElaxed.. It's supposed to be a vacation after all.

I think the New Reality is that there has to be a conscious choice to just ... Realize you won't ride all the rides you want in a single day, never mind a single visit And
either choose to be satisfied with this FP system or re-think future trips.
I hope u enjoy your visit and Get on the rides you want. Good Luck!

That just makes me sad.

I know, but it just may be the new reality.
There has got to be a better way for families to actually ride the rides they want ( and imho paid for) without standing in lines for an hour/s + and Not being satisfied with getting on 3 rides that may not even Be the ones you wanted to ride. And then Working the system to get additional ones.

I just Know Disney Can Do Better! !

I was (Very Blessed to be) able to spend Many nites/weeks staying at Disney Resorts this year, got our first APs, and made the dream come true by making this Beautiful state our new home.
But, I didn't renew our passes and I have no return planned, which for me is quite UnMouselike!
It wasn't Disney overload, I love the Whole immersion/experience but after a long hard look,
The Very Significant FP challenges ( I don't want to make FP a job nor do what some do, get Xtra Magic bands .. Tho it did tempt me for a second lol) just don't work for us along with some other things ( over salted repetitive foods, deluxe rates too high for amenities, etc. )
Perhaps this self imposed break will make me want to return "home" at a later date. We ll see

I always do this, once I use my 1st FP+, then I go in and see if I can edit the 2nd one to a closer time. 9 times out of 10 it works. Not for 7DMT or those rides but for most.

Didn't even know this was an option, so thank you! I'm already stressing at how much of a disadvantage I'll be since I only have a 30-day window since I'm not staying on property, but this offers some type of hope, lol.

I feel like the bigger challenge will be having to walk all over the park just to get to your FPs in time, especially with parks like Epcot that are so huge. I'd rather just walk to the nearest attraction and get in line but not knowing how to line up my FPs to know where I will be in what part of the park when, I fear I'm going to be doing tons of running back and forth across the park. The only thing I know so far is that I want to do Test Track at Rope Drop to get that outta the way (so I can use a Tier 1 FP for FEA) but now I have to determine when to use an FEA pass w/o being too late in the day as we'll be park-hopping to DHS later that afternoon. Our Tier 2 FPs will be in Future World so those we'll be doing earlier as to not go back and forth between Future World and World Showcase. Who knows how long it will take to do all the other things we wanna do in Future World which we'll haveta do as standbys?

I don't wanna haveta update my FPs a billion times in the parks as my phone won't even support a MDE app. I'll haveta use my friend's Iphone or one of the kiosks.

I'll try, but my phone is a Windows phone (the cheap kind) and many websites in desktop form keep appearing all wonky-looking on my phone (ex. large squashed texts. etc)

I used a Windows phone (HTC 8X) for all of last year (200 days of park entry as a guest), so no app for me either. The WDW website is responsive and should work properly no matter what device it is being accessed on.
